Fun to Make and Great for Practicing Sewing Techniques
I am really enjoying this book. The little half day projects are easy and fun while providing many opportunities to learn or practice more advanced sewing techniques. I just started learning to free motion quilt and these projects are great for trying out different patterns and practicing. The projects allow you to be as simple or as detailed and creative as you choose and the outcome will look great either way. I have attached a picture of my attempt at project number 1 from the book. I found the directions simple to follow and straightforward. I look forward to trying Project 2.

Accidental Landscapes was Fun
Just had my first class using the Accidental Landscapes book. It's well organized with step-by-step instructions and lots of pictures for beginning to more advanced landscapes. We did a simple one day project using 1/8 yds. of fabrics for the landscape and 1/2 yd. each of backing and batting. FQs for these would have been plenty. It was fun to play with fabric patterns and colors to see what could be used for sky, hills, lake/ocean, and beaches. Plus we used basic sewing/quilting tools and supplies. And, there were "no" special tools needed. 😉

A lovely book
Not a new sewer but a new quilter. This book features making mini quilts of beautiful scenes. I am so inspired by the lovely landscapes and hope to be able to make a few of them soon. I have a great machine, wonderful threads, lots of stash and live in a town with sufficient crafter resources.

Just what I needed!
I've been wanting to know the correct way to create these stunning pictures since the time I tried to make one for a friend and devised my own technique. I did not know this method had already been explored and developed. I was thrilled to hear about this book. Although my "made up" method is close to Eckmeier's hers is SO much better! The examples she gives are inspiring. Her directions are clear and easy to understand. She teaches about color and fabric texture, and how to combine them most effectively. For picture composition, she shows how to make up your own and also to use photographs, works of art, and scenic places as inspiration and ways to copy them. She also discusses the use of embellishments to make a picture come alive. Probably, much of the information on color and composition would be familiar to someone well versed in artistic methods, but I recommend this book anyway because it goes far beyond that.

Good book, great photos
I was lucky enough to take the class from her, the book is an excellent reminder. Lots of good ideas. Probably could use a little more in the how to put them together department. All in all, though a great book

Easy and fun
I bought this to support Karen for her generosity in sharing this technique on YouTube, which is where I found her. It really is as easy as she makes it look and I am new to quilting.

Accidental Landscapes
The book seems to have good info but it looks like I got a returned copy. I like my books to be mine from the start. I can see where there is a sticky spot evidently from a sticker which has been removed and the corners are bent. I guess the information is still good though so I will keep it.!

Best art quilting book I've seen so far.
I've been looking at a lot of art quilting/textile art books recently. This one is definitely the best I've come across!
