Fun, strategic game - teaches forward thinking
Wow! While it’s a fun, easy Disney themed word game for young kids to learn, but this game also can teach quite a bit of strategy. It can be a quick game if you just want to play something simple and fast turns. Or it can be quite challenging, if it is played thinking about future moves based on the opponents’ tiles. Once we got into preventing word completion and forced plays, the gameplay became longer and more strategic. My kid says it feels like playing chess. The game grows with kids ability to think critically and plan forward.Game play is simple. Each player gets 7 tiles - Up to 2 letter tiles are placed on any word each turn on a pre-determined crossword board. Tiles played are drawn at the end of the turn. Words have to be tiled in the order they are written, first letter to last, except where another word crosses it. However the letter tiles players hold are face up, so all players know what each other have. A player can see what options other players have in their coming turn, and influence those options by the letters placed. Word completion can be blocked by withholding letters. Also, requiring players play any available option, makes the game even more challenging. It can force players to place letters they do not wish to, driving word completion and preventing stalemate. The board has a second side with a different pre-determined crossword which is nice. Free play is easy to do by disregarding the words on the board.::jk (rob’s spouse)

Not as good as regular Scrabble Jr
We have classic Scrabble Jr and this Disney version and frankly, this isn't as good as the original. First, you have to add or remove letters depending on which side of the board you are using, which is a pain. Second, there is no free play side as there is in regular Scrabble Jr, so the game can't really "grow" with your children. Third, the words are all disney Proper names, so it really isn't teaching the kids anything. Regular Scrabble Jr is a much better investment.(and I am a serious Disney fan, so I was really disappointed by this game.)

paper letters. Cheap. Disappointing.

A shameless marketing tool that exploits kids.
Do your kids really need to learn 'words' such as kaa, nala, zazu or kanga? The original Scrabble Junior is a fantastic game for beginning readers, it is educational and fun to play with your kids. This abomination is a despicable attempt to attract young Disney fans without any regard for the real educational well-being of children. Shame on Disney and shame on Hasbro for concocting this manipulative and exploitative waste of time and money.

Hours of Fun
I bought this for my 5 year old daughter and she loves playing with it and it is really helping her with spelling. Lately this has been my first gift to give any five year old boy or girl. They really enjoy playing it and want to play over and over. The best part of it is the two separate boards that you can play on. Fun for the kids and the entire family.

Fun for Parents and Kids
My daughter received this game for her 6th birthday and we have been enjoying playing it almost every night. It's a great game for a non-reader as the words are spelled out on the board and the fact that most are Disney character names makes it even more fun. I also like the fact that the game board has two different sides - just flip it over for a different game. I've found that it is really helping my daughter recognize words while she is having fun. Its also one of the few games that does not bore the parent! Highly recommended!

Okay
Condition was not as good as promised. It looked old and used. Hoping the game has all the pieces. They were scattered all over the box when it was opened.
