Glow Einstein to Bowens Mount Converter

UPDATE: Also works very solid and strong with an Ultra 1200!I honestly don’t understand the reviews which say this doesn’t work with an Einstein. I will upload a video to prove it fastens quite securely to a white lightning 3200 with a fairly large soft box umbrella. I also have a White Lightning 1600 and a couple of Ultra Series tucked away which I need to dig out and test as well. However, I found this ring a delight to use. It is very strong, and it’s very solid when it snaps into place. To remove it I literally had to reach inside the soft box with one hand to grab a hold of the flimsy umbrella frame, and then slightly wrestle to twist the ring back off with my other hand. That said, since this is new I certainly cannot speak to the longevity of the spring tension metal inside the ring. Will it eventually loosen up a little more? Quite possibly yes. However the spring loaded pin is a safety feature to prevent the ring from spinning off when in use. So far I’m quite impressed on the build quality and the tolerances. This ring is all metal; no plastic at all. It works with White Lightening.

If you put no softbox on it will look like it works with the Einsteins but as soon as a softbox is attached it will slip. The bevel is too large. It does work on my Alien Bee 800 so i will keep it. Its a shame that it won’t work on the Einsteins. They should update the ring or the product description.

It didn’t fit my Einstein correctly I attached it tried to add a soft box it kept falling off. I was disappointed I had to improvise and use something else for my client.

Awesome! Bought 3 & would buy more.A little difficult to set up first time, but my non-Buff softboxes I wanted to use with my ABs connect up to the softboxes nice & firm with no looseness. They work like a charm.

This is not a flimsy plastic product. Extremely sturdy. I know it fits the Einstien perfectly. I've not tried the Bowens side or a Bowens light modifier with the Einstien yet. I gave it four stars as I don't know how the locking mechanism will work in real use. You pull out the knob to allow the Bowens side to twist. The issue of concern is the knob seems to have an internal slot so you have to turn the knob until the slots align to be able to pull it out. It's not clearly indicated, and I swear as I was just holding it in my hands, if I turned counter-clockwise, I could find the slot. If I turned clockwise, I couldn't. Or it was the other way around. With a big modifier, this may be an issue. Aside from that, I can't see why this won't do an excellent job.

I have several Bowens mount light modifiers in my studio equipped with Einstein / Digibee /Alien Bee studio flash units. I have used several somewhat flimsy Alien Bees to Bowens Mount converters. Of them all, this is the sturdiest, well built converter. I will buy a few more so that I attach one on each of my Bowens mount modifier.

These work. The quality is top-notch. BUT, the fingers on my Einsteins can't keep a grip on larger modifiers. It's not the fault of this product, but the Buff way of gripping the rings. Might actually work better on the Bee line.
