Very nice for situations where you don't have power accessible
The media could not be loaded. I got this product to light up an ice rink on a pond. We frequently skate at night and I have been looking for something to light up the area. I don't have power down by the water, so this solar light will be perfect. Ice won't be here for several months, so it will be a while before I can REALLY put it to the test. The light and the panel appear to be well constructed. I believe the housing for the light is cast aluminum. The business end of the light is protected by a sheet of glass (not acrylic/polycarbonate). I appreciate that it is glass since it should be better for optical clarity and durability in terms of avoiding scratches. The light is powered by an internal battery. The solar panel charges the battery during the day. There appears to be a small LED in the matrix of LEDs that is used as the charging indicator. The included remote uses IR (infrared) to control the light. This means you have to point the remote at the light to control it. The range on the remote is pretty short -- maybe 20 feet max? I could see this being a problem if you mounted it super high and wanted to control it manually versus using the timed modes. This isn't an issue for me though. The mounting hardware that it comes with is something that I haven't seen before. It comes with some kind of expanding bolts. I ended up mounting the light and panel to an aluminum pole using my own hardware instead. This is kind of a temporary setup for me. This is an issue with where I want the light to be. There is nothing wrong with the light in this regard. We will probably end up building something near the water that would be better for mounting the light and panel. The bracket for the solar panel attaches to the sides of the panel. I was able to mount this to my pole just fine, but I didn't like that the top of the panel was free to rub up against the pole when the wind blows. I ended up drilling two holes in the panel frame so I could secure the top of the panel to the pole. I put a piece of foam between the top of the panel and the pole to protect the panel. This may be overkill, but we get a fair amount of wind down by the water, so I figured it was worth the 5 extra minutes to make it a little more secure. The light is very bright. LED technology is really amazing these days. I'm happy with the unit. The real test will be in 2-3 months when the snow starts falling. I will update this review if anything doesn't go well.

I SEE YOU
Amazing been using for 6 months never failed me. I have it set to come on at dusk and goes off 8 hours after that. Very bright and the best part it's not costing me no money!!

Good But bulky
The product is bright works well. Just as described. I only found that the lamps were too bulky in design. Apart from that a great value for you money

Very Bright!
Almost too bright!! I custom cut a diffuser from a white shower curtain to dim the light and it was perfect. The auto setting is perfect, I don't have to turn it on/off manually. Solar panel works great.

Showed promise, but failed far too soon!
I had big plans for this light, to illuminate a small sports field for evening use. While not quite enough light for that field, it did an OK job. I mounted it 25 feet above the field, angling the light to maximize coverage. That height rendered the remote almost unusable unless standing on tiptoe almost underneath it. But it worked, thus happy fall sports fans! Then winter and spring came. The light started coming on by itself, in daylight, and the remote didn't work at all. I climbed up and found lots of condensation INSIDE, which I assumed was hampering the remote's signal. But after a couple of very dry hot weeks, still not working. I removed it to do some diagnosis, and found a pool of water inside --- not just condensation. It had been installed at about a 45° angle, and should have shed water, but did not. Attempts to contact the manufacturer for warranty replacement were fruitless, they disappeared in a merger or something. So I installed some bright LED waterproof light found at Lowe's, and electrical service to power them. I loved the remote LED solar idea. It just wasn't properly baked for me. The glass front cover is sealed around all sides, and was impossible to remove (once I'd given up on replacement) without breaking it. Likely needs heating to release the adhesive, but I didn't bother. Into the recycling bin it went!

Great for large spaces
We needed a way to light up the yard of our building at night. This unit, mounted at the roof line did the trick. The solar panels that come with this unit are great. They're able to charge the very generous battery. The light shine brightly all night. My only complaints are: the remote is finicky, and there is no way to control the light without the remote. My remote only works with a couple of batteries I have, because where the batteries go in seems poorly designed for making contact with the batteries. As there are no buttons on the unit itself, if the remote breaks or is lost, you're SOL.

Light is excellent, everything else is mediocre.
The actual light itself is great. The brackets are too thin. They're extremely flimsy. Every time the wind blows both the light and the solar panel wobble and shake like crazy. I ended up using steel straps to secure the solar panel. I may have to just replace the light bracket with one made of thicker metal. And now for the the remote. This is the cheapest piece of crap I've ever seen. I came extremely close to returning the entire set-up because I hated the remote. The light illuminates a bigger area if it's installed higher off the ground, but the remote only works about 10ft away from the light and directly in line with the light. Since I installed this light about 25' off the ground, it means I need a 20' A-frame ladder set up about 10' in front of the light in order to use the remote. When I first set the light up, I hit the "on" button to see if it worked and the light came on - then it took me SIX DAYS to figure out the exact place I needed to be to turn the light to auto. What a nightmare.
