Dorman 258-519 Air Cleaner Assembly Compatible with Select Ford Models (OE FIX)

The go/no go chart is wrong because it is a 100% fit for 2004. It does come with a filter too. One tip: remove the resonator and mass air flow unit from the top first. I checked for a HQ air filter using all their recommended replacements, but there is only a standard STP one available. Everything else is discontinued. BOO... Careful reinstalling the two resonator screws into the brass inserts on top. They are easy to cross thread. Good luck. It took me 6 hours to complete. I'm slow. LOL

The lifetime air filter on this 2006 Ford focus absolutely needed to be replaced. Very difficult to remove and replace with the aftermarket air filter. The air filter that I bought from Amazon fit perfect and I’m able to replace the air filter in the future. The replacement cost at the auto parts, and the dealer is ridiculously expensive. Not an easy job but doable.

I am glad Dorman design this air filter housing to replace non serviceable original one. Now I know if another customer need it again.

I have yet to install this unit however, when using the K&N 33-2113 filter, I found it necessary to install the filter retainer with grove facing inward as opposed to outward as directed via the instructions. As a result, I decided to install the filter assy. with the retainer facing the inlet side.Later that day I installed the unit on my 2005 Focus with the PZEV 2.0 engine. It was a truly frustrating procedure however, everything lined up correctly and I didn't have any parts left over when completed. Happy to have this in the rear view mirror.

I double, triple checked to make sure it was the correct model- sure enough it was not even close. I hope they will take this back...

I installed this on my 2006 Ford Focus ZX4. Results: the car breaths a lot better. I feel that when I accelerate the car keeps getting faster without restriction or the need to push harder on the gas. I can notice a performance jump. I can better describe it as going for a run with a cold were your nose is congested. If you were to only breath thru your nose your performance would diminish because of the lack of oxygen getting to your muscles. If you open your move and start breathing a bit faster filling your lungs with oxygen now you can run faster and longer. Thats exactly the case here. My car is now faster with less effort and gas mileage has improved slightly. ******Tips: buy a can of mass flow air sensor so you can spray it off since you will be working in that area. Its recommended you clean it every so often. I bought it with the K&N filter. Taking your sweet time including cleaning the Mass Air Flow will take you about 2 hrs to install.
