XFISHMAN Fly Fishing Poppers Lures for Bass Panfish Flies Topwater Popper for Crappie Bluegill Kit

I received 10 #2 poppers that looked exactly as pictured. I haven't fished them yet, but have initial feedback:The good:Hooks are sharp and stout, bodies look durable.Nice variety of colors.The bad:Paint job is fragile as small amounts of chipping were visible.Feathers and flash look insubstantial and perfunctory.To fix the feather part, I took half of the poppers and stripped off the original and put my own stuff on (on the right in the picture). Some I tied bucktail or EP fox brush along with additional flash for a more fishy look and others I simply added more substantial feathers and flash for a froggy look. I plan on testing the original popper against my heavily modified poppers to see if the mods are actually better.To fix the paint issue, I coated the popper bodies with Hard as Nails which has worked well for me in the past protecting more fragile colorations on the body.Once I figure out if these work, I'll update my review.

I will update this review once the lakes and streams are not frozen over, and have a chance to fish. But for now....3 star review for now. I haven't fished these yet, as the lakes and streams are frozen over. Description says they are soft foam. The ones I got look and feel more like wood or hard plastic. Not sure how they will perform on a 7wy fly rod with floating line. The paint was already scratching off as they were just thrown in the box. I'll keep them and try them, but I would not order again based on description. Hooks seem strong and nice and sharp.Will they once the ice melts off the lakes...

This poppers is really a sunfish killer. I have used it a dozen times and can catch a lot of fish every time. With this popper, I even caught 56 fish in the fishing spot near my house for 3 hours, with blue gills and black bass. It is also very effective for squid in the creek. Its unique design makes the fish attack very aggressive. And it is easy to throw the position of the target fish. Compared with other products, I think it is very cost effective. If you like to use top water flies, I highly recommened this one!

build looks good. only complaint is that the hooks are too big for some of the poppers. hence the one star deduction. another thing is that I was mashing the barbs, and the point of the hook started to bend. didn't break off though.came in a small storage box that will be nice to use as well. not sure I would but them again, but these are relatively inexpensive. I do prefer the Betts poppers over these though.

shipped fast, looks nice, I've been tying flies for decades but don't have my gear here, They look well tied and they should catch fish. Haven't tossed any into the eater yet...

First time using a popper. Used a couple today on a fly rod and spinning rod. Obviously cant cast very far on the spinner but the bass were hitting right off the shore. My son and I had tons of fun using these and catching bass and bluegill. Huge fan of poppers now.

Worked just like they're supposed . . . bass third cast.

I finally had a chance to try these out, and I have to say the panfish took them as soon as they hit the water. I am hoping to try the bigger ones and get some bass on them soon. Used a 7' 5wt rod and they cast just fine.
