The Gluten-Free Vegan: 150 Delicious Gluten-Free, Animal-Free Recipes

Truly gluten free
I have Celiac disease and so I have to avoid all gluten. I recently became vegan, and a lot of recipes and prepared vegan foods have gluten in them. Out of desperation, I came to Amazon to search for a gluten free, vegan cookbook. I found this one, and I'm enjoying it. If you don't mind food preparation (there are a lot of basic, fresh ingredients used), then this is a great cookbook. The food tastes great. Even my meat eater husband and picky daughter will eat them.

Inspiring
This cool book inspires me. And what I love is that so many of the ingredients are things I already have. I am not an advanced cook so I am not looking for anything fancy, but what this cookbook does it sparks my creativity of how I can make ingredients I normally have into something more special. Love it!

There are no page numbers in index in the kindle version.
I like to read cookbooks first. I discovered a problem in the kindle version when the author mentioned using her recipe for vegetable stock on page 34 in place of the store bought version. My kindle version didn't have the same page numbers. Vegetable stock wasn't listed in the index which had no page numbers and no links. I finally found the recipe for "Homemade Vegetable Stock" by searching for page 34. Although the recipes sound delicious, the only way to return to a recipe, that I can see, would be to highlight the title. I'm returning the digital book.

LOVE these recipes - for everyone!
These recipes are fantastic! Our family has one person with a pretty restricted diet, one who is a vegetarian, and all of us are healthy eaters. This book is for everyone.New staples in our house:Blueberry Buckwheat pancakes. Great - can make into choc chip pancakes too. I use a small amt of GFCF chips.Coconut pancakes - all her mixes can last in fridge for a few days.Granola - really, really good and easy.Pumpkin scones - fantastic texture. Holds up for a few days!J&J's Favorite Yam and Black Bean Burritos. Simple to prep ahead, then super fast to put together. Good without the tortillas too. This is probably my favorite.Lentil Stew - makes a ton - again, easy to prep ahead and fast.Must say, everything that I have made has been easy and fast - and delicious. Definitely a winner!

it sure does help to have them to show what a finished recipe looks like. Plus
I was excited to get this cookbook. I've been gluten free for 13 years (celiac disease) and recently switched to a vegan diet to help with my T2 diabetes, so this cookbook covers the 2 main dietary issues I have. I've glanced through the cookbook and am excited to try the recipes - there are quite a few that look simply scrumptious. I can't give a full review since I've not yet made anything...but I have to comment on something right off the bat. There are no photos. I mean, not a one. Sure, you've got the cover photos, but that's it. No drawing, no images, no pictures of diddly squat. While I know that photos aren't necessary for cookbooks, it sure does help to have them to show what a finished recipe looks like. Plus, if I'm not sure what I want to bake/cook, it's nice to thumb through and find a photo that strikes my fancy.Anyway, I had to give it less than 5 stars because of that. I really wish the author/publisher would have decided on photos.

One of my favorite cookbooks
I love this cookbook; although I am not really vegan, I do like to eat plant based meals, and need to avoid gluten and dairy. The recipes are easy to follow, not too complicated (ingredients), and everything I have made using it has been delicious. My daughter borrowed mine and after a few months had not returned it, and I liked it enough to order a new copy online. What I found is that the ingredients were not so different from what I use in my usual recipe- free cooking, but that the combinations, approaches, and flavorings were different enough that it provided variety in my meal prep. I find that it is easy to get stuck in a bit of a rut cooking wise, and this book helps me to spice up the routine!

Very old-style cookbook. Hard to skim and get ideas.

Fan-Tab-Ulous - Great Cake Recipes - My Kids Love Them!
The Carrot Cake Rocks!! Better than the real thing. The Quinoa Coffee Cake tasted exactly like real cake (I added Chocolate Chips) and my kids both couldn't get enough! The Gingerbread w/ chocolate chips was very 'gingery' but good. The buckwheat pancakes were also good but next time I am going to use them as cookie batter. A little too gingery for kids.Raspberry tofu pudding was awesome (don't tell them it's tofu). My 8 year old son has a Food Intolerance to Dairy, Eggs and Wheat. I've read Gluten-Free but they use a lot of dairy and eggs, then I've bought Vegan but they use a lot of wheat. So this is PERFECT!I bought it mainly for the cake & biscuit recipes and I am not disapointed.

No photos of any Recipies
No photos or glossy pages in this book.Seemed thin pages and no pictures. Not what is expected for a cookery book. You want to see what the recipe will look like.

Another wonderful help
Another wonderful help to those battling multiple food allergies. It doesn't go quite far enough for me, so I've still some adapting to do but there are some excellent ideas in here and, being Amercian, she uses yet more different flours and syrups! But that's the nature of this life. Highly recommended.
