Wow!!!
I love this story. I finished it the same day I bought it, it was THAT good, and I've been re-reading my favourite parts. It has loveable heroes, great secondary characters, lots of action, awesome villains, adventure in a faraway world, alien love and well written love/sex scenes. What more can a sci-fi fan want? The writing is good, though there are a couple of grammar issues that don't detract from the story.I understood Devin's personality well, given the circumstances of his birth and his upbringing, and was pleased to see that he didn't let the disappointments in his life hold him back or break him. After his experience at the hands of the Union Researchers, Devin took on a needy "damsel in distress" personality. Of course, with what he went through, I could see why. If this series continues, and I whole-heartedly want it to, I would hope Devin will revert back more to his former "can do" personality.Bastian was a little harder to grasp in the beginning, but he was out of his elements on Earth. After he was reunited with is family and returned to his planet, he was easy to understand. His character didn't change much throughout the story, but Devin needed a strong and steady person after all that's happened to him.I loved the world-building and look forward to learning more about the different species. If there is another story, I would guess it is Perin's turn to find his soul mate and I can't wait to see who he'd be paired with, though I have a suspicion.Overall, this is a well-written and exciting sci-fi story that has you turning the pages until the end and then you're displeased when it actually ends because there is so much more you want to know. Highly recommend.

A good read.
Liked the overall story. The sex scenes could've been tastefully toned down and often just suggested and leave it to the reader's imagination instead. There was no reason given as to why the male aliens' tails were docked at birth. There was a logical mention of why Bastion spoke English, then everyone spoke English on his planet when the two protagonists went home. I can go with some if them speaking English, but not everyone on the planet. Maybe Dev could have gotten some kind of device that served as a translator and later learned how to speak his husband's language over time. It would have been fine for the immediate family to speak English thanks to Bastion's mom's job requirements and maybe she thought it useful for her family to all learn English.youOne minor thing, A very minor bone to pick, I didn't like the double spacing between paragraphs. The over all story was a good one, I didn't mind too much that the main protagonists were gay. Generally speaking, no matter how it's oriented, don't care for straight up romances. At least not ones that don't have a good story that balances out the romantic plot elements. This one was nicely balanced. I had been thinking of getting this series for quite some time and had to hold off do to financial reasons. Finally got some money and bought the books. No regrets and I really did enjoy reading the first book and look forward to reading the next two.

Lying in a hammock watching two moons in the night sky...
*SPOILERS* This was a great sci-fi m/m romance. It is about Devan, a low-level Earth spaceport dock worker who falls in love with a giant furry space alien with horns on his head and tusks in his lower jaw. Oh, and he has lovely golden fur. It instantly struck me as having many original elements while still being a sweet romance. The alien is Bastian Drago from the planet Dega. To fall in love with a Degan is a bit jeopardous for Devan, as the Degan DNA is 'aggressive' toward non-Degan species. The results of sex with a Degan may involve mutations such as growing fur, a tail, or perhaps horns on the head. In Devan's case it results in a male pregnancy. Normally I don't care for male pregnancy stories, but this was so well done it didn't matter. I don't want to give away any more plot details, but the plot escalates with secret labs and governmental conspiracies. Those elements didn't detract in any way from the romantic storyline, and Bastian's powerful family comes in to play a supportive role to help out the endangered couple. The alien worlds were nicely sketched and I loved the scene where Bastion takes Devan out to lie in a hammock watching the multiple moons of his planet reflected in the lake. I really like this author and I hope to read more books by him. I see there is a second book in the series coming and I hope it's about Peri and perhaps the stern uncle. I never did get to hear more about how sensitive the horns are... ;P (Having finished it, I think I will go back and read it again now...) If you like this book you may also like The Heracian Affair, The Heracian AffairUpdate: It kept bugging me every time I read this book so I researched sonic showers. They are technologically possible at this time but too expensive for practical use. Also a small amount of water would be needed in the form of a super-fine mist. But basically a virtually dry sonic shower was developed for astronauts but never used.Update: I just read a synopsis of the follow-up book to this which is called "The Cassini Mission"! *sobs* It's not about Peri at all! It's about one of the doctors. The exo-biologist Aron Adler is sent on a space rescue mission with handsome Marine corporal Kane Robertson. Sounds a bit X-Files... Should be good.

Really good
Good romance, plot driven and sweet mpreg. The sci fiis well fleshed out and you actually want more of this series with these characters. A book that wets your appetite nicely and that is well written.

Parfaitement conquis

Good read
Love this tale. The story description really says it all. I loved Devin and the drago family - it's a warm tale to enjoy full of love found, mislaid for a while when everything goes wrong then found again. Unlike some sci fi tales.it doesn't get dragged down with explanations of the alien world it's just a good love story set in space with a great ending.
