Saved the day
I purchased a 5.3 lb memory foam mattress. It was like sleeping ona slab of concrete although not as comfortable. Yikes!Out of desperation I purchased this- price was fair for a king size and the thicknesslooked right. Mine actually is only 1.250" thick. It may expand more and aspeople noted its dirt yellow. But who cares as its under the sheets.I topped off mine with a Luna mattress protector and I must say it works. The mattresses was a killer and last night I actually wasn't in pain last night. It did have a good bit of smell to it but the mattress protector killed all of that. One thing I'm not use to is the convoluted surface. With the pad over it etc I can still feelthe textured surface and I think I will get use to it all though I roll all night and thissurface seems to stop you from doing that. I may try flipping it over and just see how that works. But I did notice one thing. I haven't slept on my back for 25 years- couldn't because of severe back painand other issues. I did last night........Worth the money even if you had to replace it yearly.

Probably not worth the $50.
The only good thing is that it is a memory foam. I presume this will make it better than simple foam that is used in most inexpensive mattress foam toppers. Also, it is hard to find a place that is 1 1/2" thick, more like 1 3/8" on the ridges. There is a chemical odor when it is first opened. I set it out on a table in the back yard and after two days turned it over. In two more days I brought it in and installed it. There were no more odors.I bought it for my son as when he and his wife visited us, they complained that the mattress on his bed was too stiff. I asked after the first night if it helped and he said "yes". I do not know if he was being truthful or just trying to please me. I then put it on my bed for two weeks. I like a firm bed and my mattress is quite firm. While it did soften the feel, this softness ended after a few minutes when the memory foam compacted from my body weight. In general, memory foam will make it a little harder to turn over as it does create some resistance. I did not notice any increase in heat from the bed as some reviews have commented on. I did remove it from my bed after two weeks as I felt there was no real benefit to me. I reinstalled it on my son's bed for when he comes for his next visit. I hope he was being truthful with his "yes"!

Great for a Waterbed.
I bought this topper for my Queen size waterbed mattress. Because they are sized for standard beds, I ordered the california king size, and cut 12 inches off along one side. I gave only four stars because it is not really memory foam. While not a true "memory foam" material, it is quite comfortable. True memory foam leaves an impression when you press down with your hand then remove it. This one does not, but you can feel that it takes time to recover from the pressure, and it does sink in properly when you lie on it. I use it between my water mattress and a sheep wool topper, and my waterbed is now like sleeping on a cloud! I have slept on waterbeds for 30 years, and have never experienced this level of comfort before. I will never go without this combination again. It was cheap, and works great for waterbeds. If you own a waterbed, I highly recommend that you try this, you will be amazed. I have tried Tempur-Pe*** foam beds, Sleep Num*** air beds, and standard mattress beds, and this combination creates the most comfortable bed in existence.

Rather firm foam topper
I purchased this to cushion a really old mattress that had just started to give me aches. I don't like to feel like I'm drowning in softness, so the fact that this memory foam topper is firm is nice for me. It gives just enough cushioning/flexibility that I'm not waking up with aches anymore. I do have a mattress cover (not protector) over this as well as a fitted sheet, so that may also contribute to how this feels. However, if you want something softer, you will probably have to pay extra for the more high quality memory foams. This does have a pretty funky smell when you first unwrap it. It requires 2-3 days of airing out before putting it on your bed.

With this topper it was better.. but still very firm
I bought this to go on top of a twin XL roll away bed with a foam mattress. the bed's mattress was very firm. With this topper it was better.. but still very firm. There are some thicker pads available, but for double the price. for the money, it did the job. Had two guests sleep on it and said it was fine.. not problem.. not too firm.

Thin & Yellow, But Better Than Nothing
I may update after sleeping on it, but I just got it and after putting on my bed it didn't seem to add very much to it. It was worlds better than before, of course, but not to the extent I was hoping. I think even just half an inch more would improve it. Also, I ordered white and received yellow. This doesn't bother me very much as I put it under a white mattress pad, but it still was not what I ordered. However it came very quickly and it did not smell too strongly (I sprayed it with Lysol straight away, I think it helped), so I gave it an extra star than I would have had it been late.

... a few years ago and found it to be super comfortable. Unfortunately
I got the twin xl size a few years ago and found it to be super comfortable. Unfortunately, the full size is not the same as the twin xl. It is much thinner. It helps me bed feel a bit more comfortable, but I definitely think there are better options out there for full sized beds. Definitely recommend for twin xl beds though!

Very nice
I was pleasantly surprised by this mattress topper, because I initially picked it based on the lower price. It's not as plush as my last one, and it's still really soft and comfortable. Well worth the price. As for the smell that other people mentioned, I think it's just the packaging. When it first comes out of the plastic, there a slight chemical-type smell but not strong at all. I hung it over my closet door before I went to work in the morning and the smell was gone by the time I was ready to go to bed. Definitely recommend it.
