To be honest, whilst the installation did not challenge me, I read instructions, look at the item carefully and decide the correct way to fit it, myself. I did not use the elastic bands but I used two sided tape to stick them where I wanted them to be, used a steel pick to punch holes through the provided holes and the two sided tape. Took out my power drill with the wood bit best suited for the job, put a depth stop on it and drilled the holes. Had to use a converter app to convert inches to millimeters. After drilling the holes I removed the two sided tape from the items, cleaned them with alcohol and put some epoxy resin on them. Then I screwed them into the holes I made in the toilet seat. After that I let it rest for 24 hours. Now it is absolutely rock solid! The item is great, no doubt about that, but installation might need some thought. I would avoid using them on the thin plastic only seats. The thicker toilet seats give you room to screw the screws into the seat and not have them come through the top surface. I always pre-drill holes for the screws. Make sure your drill has a depth gauge or markings to make sure you don't drill to far. I hope that helps. **Q: Has anyone use these on plastic toilet seat? Follow directions and use the right size drill bit to pre-drill and put tape on bit so that you drill to correct depth. We have these on both toilet seats and they have completely stabilized the seats. No more shifting of the seats and no more constantly tightening the seat bolts. The rubber band helps position it before you attach the first screw. When we replace the toilet seats in the future, we will be reusing these on the new seats.
