Combatant Gentlemen Men's Modern Fit Suit

I’m 6’1 190 lbs with an athletic build and was on the fence between the slim fit and the modern fit, as even though I’m relatively lean, some slim fit stuff seems like its excessively slim and is meant only for stick figures. They never give a height/weight description of the models so it’s hard to know where you fit in. I went with the modern fit and I would call it more of a classic fit with strait full baggy legs and not the “slim inspired” they alluded to. The jacket fit well, but the pants were much baggier than I had hoped. I got the suit tailored, which I fully recommend for any suit you buy, which was about another $60, but absolutely worth it. If you’re a broad shoulder/ chested guy with a thick lower half and some considerable extra weight in the middle then this is probably a good cut for you. But if you’re a lean to a just few extra lbs athletic build I’d opt for the slim fit and size up like they recommend. Overall a nice suit but I wish I had opted for the slim fit.

The quality of this suit is above the price tag and I received multiple compliments when I wore it recently to a wedding. I opted for the Modern Fit over as the slim was tight around my shoulders. I have somewhat broad shoulders so this was to be expected and it was easier to have the jacket taken in a little bit vs loosening up the slim. I have only worn the suit once but it felt and looked really good. The jacket liner is also a nice touch. Buy this suit - have it hemmed - look like a pro.

Quality of the fabric seems nice enough, it's half canvassed so tailoring is a little easier (and therefore less expensive).The fit is pretty close to perfect. Pants come unhemmed, so you'll need that done. One note is that the pants run small in the waist - I wear a 32, but the 34 that came with this order fits like a 32. That said, on Amazon it's a 6 inch drop from suit to waist (ex: my 40 jacket came with 34 pants).Jacket fits well in the shoulders but is very roomy in the waist (this is due to athletic build). I had to shorten the sleeves, which can be costly, but I'm a short person.The company's website has mix n match sizing, prices are the same. I chose Amazon because of the prime shipping - I had a month to receive the suit and have it tailored. Also, the 6 inch drop was fine with me, as I didn't want the pants to be too tight and you can have them taken in if you need.So far, I'd buy another combat gent suit because the quality is close to off the rack at Macy's or whatever, but at half the cost even after alterations.

Pretty good suit overall, great suit for the money. Canvas and shoulder padding are light, but not inconsequential. Color is on the dark side of medium blue, but we'll shy of navy. Fabric is nice - no mention of thread count, but I'd guess 90-100s compared to my other suits of known fabric construction. Fit on 38S modern cut is as expected - maybe a little more roomy than a J Crew Ludlow. Amazon fulfillment makes Combat Gent suits a good choice for someone looking for a solid inexpensive suit

The suit looked great and I was excited to put it on. Was to small the size chart did not match the sizes availableI would reorder if I knew what size to get

Was pleasantly surprised with the quality and cut of the suit. I have worn HSM suits for years and the Combatant Suit holds its own. The only remark I would offer is the self-sizing tool they have on line is a bit off in my opinion. I am a 42R at 6’1 and 175lbs I have worn the same size for years. The 42R that I chose fits perfectly. I would probably lean towards the ‘Tailored Fit” and the jacket needs no work. Really loved the suit! Great value for the cost!

Kind of unremarkably nice suit, consistent with previous descriptions of Combatant Gentleman products and on par with most half-canvassed suits in the $300-500 range (though I like my Spier & Mackay suits more). Well worth $160. Shipping from Amazon was fast, but arrived stuffed in a bag - no damages, just very wrinkled. Nothing a quick trip to the dry cleaners won't fix. I'd say Combat Gent suits fulfilled by Amazon are a go

The suit is nice and appears well made but it isn't quite as dark as the photo. We had to return because it wasn't formal enough for the event we're attending but for an everyday suit, it would be a nice option.
