easy to use once you get the hang of the programming
It was a replcement for an identicaI one that wore out after ten years or so of use. I like the fact you can choose what days & what times to water. I live in Flagstaff, Az and we are under restrictions on what times and days to water. It is not straight forward on the programming. Like I say I had one for many years and I still had a little trouble with the programming. I bought one at Home Depot and that model you could only program every other day or every 3rd day etc. and that would not work because of the restrictions we are under.

Defective Unit - Slow response from Galcon Customer Support
This is my second purchase of the Galcon 7101D for use as an irrigation timer for a vegetable garden. The first unit worked very well for 5 years until the LCD stopped working. I was pleased with the performance of this unit. After about 40 days of use with the replacement unit I recently purchased, the LCD has water inside of it and does not fully function. Since it was past the 30 day return policy from Amazon, they sent me directly to Galcon USA customer support. The agent that initially assisted me was very helpful and wanted to get a replacement unit out to me under warranty right away. He asked me to email him a copy of the Amazon receipt and the date code that can be found in the battery compartment. I promptly did this over two weeks ago and followed up with an email and phone calls, with no email response and the phone just rings about 10 times and stops. Not sure what their situation is, but for the price of the unit, I would expect better performance and follow up. Switching brands would mean that plumbing modifications would need to be made to my irrigation piping.

Better than other battery timers, but you need to convert from pipe threads to hose threads
Galcon makes a very good battery timer. I have a few that are now 7+ years old and are still working nicely.I used to use Gilmour, but their new timers have a lot of issues, so I moved to Galcon. These are timers for professional use, so don't have as much programmability as more commercial units, but suffice for my needs. One bugaboo is that if in the sun, the cover is susceptible to UV degradation and become not only discolored, but brittle. I tried to contact Galcon, but their phone line doesn't work, and using the email has not produced a response. So, I subtract 1 Star.-Companies that sell to professionals should always have an easy way to communicate, whether they like it or not.In summary, a very good product, but should you require service, then you are on your own.GB

didn't last
It's a nice looking unit, easy to install. Lasted two seasons, then refused to shut off. You can call customer support, and they answered right away, and were helpful and courteous. The tech support man said to reverse the battery and hit the manual on button (lower right of the control panel) and that would solve my problem. It did not. Unit in the off position still leaks about 50% of the water flow, in other words it leaks a lot. Trying to get through now and see if they'll ship a new one. Unit comes with a 3 year warranty according to tech support, although on Amazon here I can find nothing about the warranty. Not sure why a valve won't shut off fully. Have dozens of valves here and they're either on or off. Not sure what kind of valve would fail to shut off like this. You have to keep an eye on these, you might not realize it's still on and you could waste a lot of water or over-water plants.

don't last very long
I've been using Galcon outdoor water timers for 25 years. At first they were $50(?) and pretty reliable, lasting 10-15 yr. Now they are $100 and seem to malfunction after only a few years. Doesnt seem to be a good alternative though, so I'm stuck using them. I bought one of their double-AA battery timers and it is impossible to program without the manual. At least the 7101D is easy to program.

Nice redesign
This is a remake of the old iDig 7001. Love the improvements, namely no bottom cup (that you could never get to snap in place) and the display shuts off to save battery life. Also like the on/auto/off selector redesign on the outlet side as well. Literally plug-n-play. Couldn’t be more pleased with it as I have 3 of the old iDig units around my yard and all 3 are needed replacement.

These are great!
I have several of these that have been in service for 10 years, They are easy to program and the battery lasts a year. When you put in a new battery, the device remembers the settings. If you drain most of the water for the winter, they will fire up without a problem in the spring!.
