Ideal power supply for when you need extended shooting times, like when shooting videos for example.
When you need to operate your camera for extended periods of time, for example, an extended photo shoot, shooting video, stop motion animation or timelapse video then powering the camera via a mains power supply is an ideal solution. However, what is important is to ensure that the power supply is going to reliably supply the correct voltage and current to your camera. It must not exceed the maximum rating for the camera (normally 8.4 volts). The AC and DC circuits within the power supply should be electrically well isolated to ensure that the AC does not track over to the DC side causing catastrophic failure of your camera. It should not run excessively warm and it should not introduce electrical noise that might appear as hum or high-frequency hiss on your video recordings.Having disassembled the unit (I'm a qualified service engineer) I looked over the ratings of the components used in the design, the spacing of the PCB tracks, isolation between AC and DC circuits and general clean up after soldering etc.The unit has no problems that would cause concern for long reliability or safety. The power supply was supplied with the figure of eight connector plug and an adequate 13A plug, fused correctly at 5A(unlike some Chinese products which are shipped with an unfused plug!) It is not fully BS1363 compliant (finger guards not moulded into the body - just a slight ridge around the body of the plug) however again like some imported products does not have the BS1363 engraved on it! As it is a standard type of connector used in many products if you have any problems with your hands then you may want to replace the supplied power cord with one that is more suited to your needs. For the majority of users, the power cord is OK and presents no real danger if used properly. The dummy battery box fitted the camera battery compartment perfectly and latched OK. The rubber plug in the base of the Canon M50 (and other EOS M cameras) must be removed to allow the DC plug of the unit to be inserted into the socket of the dummy battery box through the camera battery/SD card cover. The camera will not power up with the compartment door open!In use, the camera displays the full battery indication and does not report that a third party battery is being used.Over an extended test period, the unit only got slightly warm and when recording video showed no signs of introducing extraneous noise on the audio track. For the price, this is a really good power supply and can be used with confidence.

Does the job but bad wiring
This works for the Canon EOS M50. However it seems to maintain charge and will give you a shock even after you've unplugged the socket. I'd imagine the ground isn't wired properly so it holds the charge and gives you a mild shock. Definitely shoddy work and uncomfortable to have happen.

Working Perfectly on Canon M50
Bought this for my Canon M50. It works perfectly and like others, I have no hum at all during video shooting. I'm using a Canon M50 Mark 1 and have the latest Firmware installed (1.1.0) so if you have trouble, maybe you could try that. This was totally plug and play for me. I was surprised at how the battery weighs nothing, I guess there isn't a lot going on inside, but it works well, has a decent cable length (about 2.5m total) and means I don't need to worry about batteries when shooting videos on a tripod anymore, nor when using my camera as a webcam. Not the most exciting purchase in the world, but it's one of those things that will be infinitely useful and I'm glad to have finally. Great product!

No ground hum audio noise in video
Okay I just bought this on the strength of another review and I can confirm that there is indeed no noise or hum added to the audio of video when using this adapter. I recently bought a USB one but had a very noticeable hum so I can only really use that USB one for photos or time-lapse.This unit is exactly what I needed and my EOS M50 runs just fine.Worth mentioning the cable length is 1.5M from the brick to cable tip and the brick to mains plug length is 0.6M but can be changed out for something longer. Voltage with a multimeter was 7.66 volts under no load so will be close to 7.4V under load I'd imagine.

Amazing, but connect it to only one adaptor
Make sure you're not connecting with a multi plug unit, if you're doing so and connecting a ring light in the same multi plug, you'll get weird noise in the video, I think it transfer some electricity buzz through. But overall a great one, plug and don't worry about battery running out.

Badly made piece of junk
The socket in the bottom of the battery replacement adaptor was so loose that the cable barely stayed in, and the power to the camera was toggling on and off every few seconds.Total waste of time and money, with the only plus point being Amazon's no-quibble refund policy. It's so sad that we're living in a world where quality gear is so hard to find. All the alternatives look like they're made in the same factory to the same woeful standards.I'd pay twice as much for something that actually worked...

Works well, fits the camera
Works as expected and allows Canon M50 to run continuously without batteries. Fits perfectly and connector stays in tightly, important as it is connected from below.Cable length is good, although would be better to have shorter mains lead and longer low voltage lead so that the transformer was closer to the plug socket.Good value for money and availability good too.
