I originally bought this for extra security while staying long term in temporary housing. One afternoon while I was asleep, someone attempted to open my motel room door. The main lock had somehow been disengaged, and the door handle position looked disturbed afterward, but this security bar prevented the door from opening inward. That experience alone made this product worth the purchase for me. It is easy to set up, solid, and adds an extra layer of security beyond the standard hotel lock system. I now bring it with me whenever I travel or stay somewhere long term.

These are great and too cheap not to get. I’ve purchased them for all of my family.

This winter our front door deadbolt wouldn't lock because we were experiencing an exceptional extended cold snap. We were able to lock the 'regular' lock, but I didn't feel like we had enough security. This security bar fits very easily under our doorknob, and fits securely against the floor to wedge the front door shut. I am impressed at how heavy-duty this bar feels, and it is incredibly easy to install it.

Pretty sturdy. It should be a pretty good deterrent. A side benefit is that once you get used to using it you will also double check that the door is locked. :-) Side benefit, in some cases, it helps the door create a better seal with the frame to keep water out in a bad rain or better insulation.

edit: this review is for carpeted floors which this can’t slide on due to the grip at least not my apartment standard issue carpet. if you have something silky, this likely doesn’t apply. if not carpet, this may not work so well especially if hardwood floor, linoleum or even tile. due to carpet, a person will have to kick the door down to enter which by then i will hear. For me, this is to ensure no one can get in quietly at night. if they kick down that door, they’ll have to be ready for a fight for their life 😉🔫 i purchased this to feel safer each night when i lock up and head to bed. this past week, I hurt my back very badly and was stuck on the floor for a whole day. I called my neighbor for help and we (both females) were discussing how we don’t know if the door would open due to this Brinks door jammer. She told me she admired it and wanted to get one for her house as well. So we both hoped that the Brinks would prove that it worked for my safety (and her future safety) but also hoping it doesn’t cause i’m stuck on the floor lol. well it worked so well. the door opened not even a crack, she was unable to push further. talk about sturdy. i had to bear crawl, scoot my butt on the ground to try and get the bar knocked from under the door. eventually needed the help of EMS and an ER visit. ladies and gentlemen, be warned this product works too well! i think i need to get the “i’ve fallen and can’t get up” button but they’ll still have to break down the door to get me I feel 1000% safer knowing it works but also just a tad bit afraid of how anyone will get to me if something crazy happens be warned lol

We bought one of these security bars to use on our deck sliding glass door. We were so impressed with the sturdiness and functionality that we immediately purchased second one to use on the door to our garage. The security bars are easy to adjust to the right height/length for any door. Our sliding glass door and the door into our garage have had funky temperamental locks on them from the time we purchased our house. Eventually we will replace both doors, but until then these safety devices give us peace of mind. Eventually when we do replace the doors, we can see ourselves giving them to our kids to use someday in an apartment or away at college in the dorms.

This is exactly as advertised, very easy to use, adjustable, and extremely durable and well made, definitely gives you extra security and peace of mind! We take it with us when travelling to use in hotel!

Once I adjusted the foot to about 18 inches from the door frame, the door did not budge at all when the handle was turned. The security bar seems very sturdy and provides peace of mind. It would fit nicely into a suitcase if needed.

We live in a 1950s house and, in order for the security bar to reach the handle of any of our interior doors, it needs to be set on the longest extension point. For the front and rear external doors, where the handles are positioned above the mid point- the jammer cannot reach.
