My Dottyback Loves his Log
I’m transitioning my high bio load salt water tank into cleaner (read: fake) place with the help of a new sump. So, instead of live rocks and macro algae in the display, I’ll be using fake rocks and plants. My Dottyback (pictured) was very concerned. He loved his live rock covered in sea fans. After I put in PVC pipe, he loved that, too. I did not. He now loves his fake log. It only took a few hours before he moved in. It looks so much nicer than PVC. In fact, it looks nicer than anything else in the tank. He’s about 2-1/2” so you can tell from the picture how large the log is and how perfectly it fits his body.I have the dottyback and a seahorse in the tank and neither has had any adverse reaction to the log so it seems safe for saltwater. As you can see, the snails and macro algae are perfectly fine, too.I didn’t feel the need to file down any sharp points. I didn’t notice any and neither has the dottyback. So, the log is an A+ for my skinny, 2-1/2” long saltwater fish. He sleeps in it and otherwise spends the day lurking around it. I’m happy, too.

Perfect for my betta tank!
I love this log! It's realistic without looking cheap of unnatural. There's multiple openings, my betta loves it! He spends quite a bit of time exploring the openings and hanging out inside. A great price for a great piece. It's also the perfect size for a betta tank. It fits in my 3 gallon tank without looking squished or cramped. So happy with this purchase I will be buying 2 more for my other tanks. I wish it would let me upload pictures, unfortunately it isn't. But trust me when I say I am 100% thrilled with this little log! Excellent quality, excellent price, excellent decoration!

Smaller than expected
I know my tank looks bad, I just got back from vacation. But anyway the log is pretty small, I would only really recommend it for shrimp, crawfish or slim bodied fish that don’t get longer than 2-3 inches in length, as any bigger could possibly get stuck in it. Other than that it’s sturdy and looks great in my tank!

An Addition To My Fairy Garden Display
I've found that aquarium decor are perfect for the fairy garden! This is my second stump, and I also have that awesome hobbit house. The fairies abound in my evergrowing display at the rock garden in the front of my Minneapolis lawn. It brings joy to the children and adults who pass by. This rotted out tree stump is the perfect fairy perch!

Smaller than Expected
This is a cute little decoration that I use for my lizard cage. However, I planned to use it as a hide for him and it’s tiny!! Maybe the size of a small soda can. Works best for a decoration, has sharp edges as well on the inside so I’m not sure if I’d recommend it for fish.

Update: Death trap
Update: warning. Cichlid death trap. The alpha Cichlid was being a jerk to several of the other smaller cichlids. I moved around the logs in the tank to give them increased hiding places. A small bristle nose Paco had been using this daily comfortably. The Cichlid moved in Which seems cute at the time, I even took this picture because I was happy that he was behaving. What I did not know is that he got trapped and died inside it., When I took him out, they were bruises cuts, and lacerations all over his body from trying to escape. I had to pull the log out of the tank and not get the fish out of the log without thumping it around the toilet repeatedly. Super, gross and horrible. I feel terrible for not realizing that the pinched closed end of this makes it difficult for a fish to get put. Works like a crab trap. Open wide on one and the narrow on the other, and the fish goes inside gets wedged in and can’t escape.. They can’t swim through if they can’t back up easily. Any critter larger than 2 inches easily could get wedged in. Do not biy this. Just dont.I would suggest purchasing one that’s equally open on both ends unless your fish are very small (no more than 1-2”). For me, this is a failure and a good lesson.Prior silly review:I have several things, and I pride myself on trying to provide decent quality habitats for a variety of critters that are match together to cohabitate some creatures really require somewhere dark to hide, which is tricky to do with rocks or natural wood and still have an opening. An animal can go inside this and have darkness and security. This is a perfect size for tucking in the back of the tank to give critters like dwarf frogs (my tank) or cichlids (bfs tank) safe dark to hide. It is a little bit heavy, so it won’t float , feels like it weighs at least 8 ounces. I like this product with purple which prevents tannins from getting in your water although Pecos and several fish like natural wood and really benefit from it, I have some natural wood in my tank. Also, my only reservation with this was that it had some sharp edges on the inside that were mild, but that I filed down with an emery board prior to putting in the tank. I also would like it to be painted a little darker, slightly more realistic looking there’s very little paint on it but considering it’s going on an aquarium that’s not a huge issue. Update: this product killed the beloved pet a very gorgeous Cichlid I’ve been nurturing for two years. Dont buy. Good luck. Take care of your critters. 😭The best thing you can do for them is keep the water clean. Don’t fill your tank with plastic junk.

Nice Little Cave for Fish & Frogs
My fish and frogs love to get in it and peek out. You can still see them from both ends and the big opening on the side. They love it! Looks natural in my tank!
