Good physical design, good performance, first unit had issues
Nice, small device which does not protrude from the OBD port the way a typical Bluetooth adapter will, so this has much less chance of being hit or accidentally kicked during use. This is a real benefit if you want to use it while driving the car, as the OBD port in a 3-series is right by your left foot. However, pairing to an Android phone is inconsistent. My unit will not pair with an LG Revolution Android phone (old version of Android 2.3.6), and pairs inconsistently (sometimes yes, sometimes no) with a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 running Android 4.4.4 KitKat. When paired, does not appear as an OBD compliant device to Android apps from other developers.UPDATE March 2015: I contacted the manufacturer and they confirmed it should function as a standard OBD device. I ordered another one, and this one works very well, pairs with no problems, and shows as a generic OBD in other applications. I am assuming the first one had some issues and have updated my review to 4 stars (one star lost for the first one being squirrelly).

Super useful and helpful, unlock the true potential of your BMW!
When paired with the Carly App, this system becomes a gateway to open up the potential options of your BMW. Through this device and the Carly App, I have been able to easily code my car for some really useful and cool features. My favorites so far that I use pretty much every day:-Control windows and sunroof with remote-Brighter turn signals-Brighter angel eyes-Heater Blow-By on the ALL button for the HVAC system-Digital speedometer in the gauge clusterThe app is very easy to use and also allows you to check diagnostics on your car and run codes that the system may throw at you. So if you get a CEL (Check Engine Light) you can turn on the app and see exactly what is going on before you even consider taking the car to the dealership! When paired with a performance chip you can completely transform your car. I have a 135i and between this and my JB4 Stage 2, I've been able to turn my car into a 400hp beast with a bunch of cool features!

If you're going to use the app, save yourself the trouble and buy this too
I give this 3 stars only because after purchasing the $50+ app, you will likely find that the easiest path to making it work will be to buy this Bluetooth OBDII adapter too. Sure, it's theoretically possibleto make the application work with any compatible adapter, but after I went through two no-name brands (one Bluetooth, one Wifi), I found myself buying this one anyways. The app is pretty slick, so if you're going to use it you might as well save yourself the trouble and buy this one first. One note of interest: I've had mine plugged in for three months now, there is no negligible drain to the battery. Your results may vary, just sharing what I've noticed on my 2011 335d.

Works great.
Very small. I use this with the iViNi app on my Moto Luge running Android 4.4.2. It didn't work at first and I thought I had a comparability problem; however, it was simply a problem with the initial Bluetooth pairing. After consulting with the VERY quick customer support rep, I simply went into my phone menu and manually paired the phone to the OBD Bluetooth device. After that the iViNi app worked great. It's nice not only to see the fault codes and monitor the various engine parameters, but the ability to code things like turning on the digital speedometer is wonderful. There is a long list of semi-hidden options which you can control with this combination of hardware and software. Highly recommended.

Does not code 2008 750li
Does not code 2008 e65 e66 (750li)Everything else works....used it to clear check engine light which was nothing major. Does nice diagnostics, it let me know my rear door sensor was out and that's white the comfort soft close didn't work, crazy thing is when I cleared fault codes, the door returned to working status. that alone was worth the price of the app and adapter.Im back on here to order the usb connection. I gave it 3 stars for that fact. Almost forgot...shipping was horrible. a gadget this size should not take 10 days to deliver....I really am starting to dislike this about amazon, its no wonder they are looking into drone technology

Does what it should, but not a complete solution for coding
Works great on my 2009 135i with the Android app on my Samsung S4. Very cool, lots of features, great for diagnostics. The required app is expensive, almost $60, but it's a specialized tool so I don't actually think that's outrageous. Compared to an alternative products this is cheap and seems to have significant functionality.I don't think it will do everything, though. I couldn't find injector coding, so you'd still need a laptop and BAV cable for that which is unfortunate. I'm probably due for new injector soon enough, and I'll have to sink more into more cables for that.

Change all sorts of electronic settings on your BMW
Programmed Door locks to all unlock on 1 push. Roll up all windows with holding down Lock button on remote in case you forget. Also rolls down all windows on UNLOCK and hold down. Added Digital Speedometer and set up to be accurate. Analog meter is 5 mph off at speed. The digital you turn on with this can be set to the real speed. Turn on Instant MPG. Change seat belt alarms. Read engine alarm messages. This works with my Android cell phone. I have a 2014 X1

a good product. Much lower profile than my other bluetooth ...
This adapter works well about 80% of the time. The other 20% it refuses to communicate with any of my phones/tablets.When it is working, it works well. I wish I had seen an email I received from the seller asking if I wanted to wait for the gen2 adapter, as you need the gen 2 for many of the newer features.Overall, a good product. Much lower profile than my other bluetooth OBD2.

Hält nicht, was Anbieter verspricht!
