Great for coffee over the fire and doesn't break

The go to camping cup
These are good quality camping cups. Can’t beat them. Perfect size and you can put them right on a heat source.

Great lightweight classic campfire mugs.
These were just what we were looking for: typical size, traditional, ceramic coated mugs to use with cowboy coffee around a backyard campfire. And at just under four bucks each, the price was competitive, if not a bit better than what we'd found elsewhere. All four arrived factory covered (as indicated by the factory label on the outside) with a soft cushiony foam sheet inside bubblewrap. We ordered four which were prudently shipped in a box via amazon prime. So they seem well packaged from the factory to prevent damage from mishandling or bumping together in the box should you need more than one like we did. One mug had a small place on the handle where the ceramic coating didn't get applied perfectly even, showing black metal underneath. But that's not only to be expected for these type of mugs, it's virtually part of their charm. And if you use them as much as we plan to, I suspect they'll look worse before long - though, so far so good, after about a dozen outdoor uses around the stone firepit. They definitely won't break as easily as conventional all ceramic or glass mugs will.Though these are extremely lightweight, they're not as compact as modern collapsible designs. So there are better options out there for those who are actually packing for a camping excursion away from home. Also, despite being aluminum, the metal does not insulate your hand from the heat of the drink as well as heavier or more modern mugs. We've been using them for drinking cowboy coffee, which is VERY hot, as unlike other brewing methods, you bring cowboy coffee to a full rolling boil. Despite the added heat of our drink the mugs are still cool enough to hold, but not by much. They should be perfect come cooler fall temperatures.I suspect stainless steel would hold up better, but it's a lot more pricy and, with the ceramic coating on these, there's no metallic taste like you get drinking out of bare metal.

Good mug but did not exactly fit my needs
So I was looking for a flat bottomed mug that would work on my electric mug warmer. This means that the mug needs to have a perfectly flat bottom, this mug has a slightly indented bottom and therefore did not work for me. Other than that there is nothing wrong with it.

Just like the camping cups I used as a kid
I needed a new set of camping cups for my husband and myself and I wanted ones that were nostalgic for me. These met the criteria for me. I would have preferred green ones but the blue is pretty. They arrived in perfect condition, no chips or anything like that.

Durable and Beautiful!
Classic graniteware blue is photoworthy, and keeps tea and cocoa super warm. Great camping mugs!

Classic, cheap, bad at its job
If you've ever been camping, chances are you've used one of these Coleman camp mugs. They do a great job of A) being nostalgic reminders of camping trips from your youth and B) holding liquid. Past that, they're not too great at their job.The handle is too small, so you can't hook more than one finger through it (at least, I can't with my adult-sized fingers). You wind up pinching the handle between thumb and forefinger to hold it, and that gets tiresome. Also, they're paper-thin sheet steel, which transmits heat almost instantaneously. This has the double benefit of both burning the bejesus out of your fingers while almost instantly rendering your coffee too cold to drink enjoyably. One final complaint is that the lip of the cup is rolled, but has an unusually wide flat spot at the top, so it's almost impossible to sip hot coffee without dribbling it down your chin like a toddler learning to drink from a cup.All that said, they're cheap and nearly indestructible, so while getting styrofoam cups may be more convenient, camping has never been about convenience. Camping is about roughing it. Camping is about smelling like an ashtray full of burning hair for a weekend and pretending you don't notice. Camping is about bedding down for the night with a sharp rock under your sacrum while being lulled to sleep by the blissful tones of racoons tearing through your trash. Camping is about burning a sheet of skin off your palate on a too-hot beverage while simultaneously spilling most of it down your chin. On this last point, the Coleman Enamel Mug isn't just "about" camping--it IS camping.
