Circe

I could not put it down!
I’ve been a bit picky about books lately, but I enjoyed this one thoroughly. Miller expertly crafted the voice of Circe in a way that drew me in from the start. Her motivations and imperfections felt believable and the familiar characters and stories never felt shoehorned in. It was a pretty easy read but rewarding as well. Highly recommended!

Who would believe myths and legends can become better?
Read three of these now, and on hold for a fourth. I've "always" loved myths and legends of most peoples.. Kind of hard to see Odysseus revealed like this, but loved it nonetheless. Lover of this genre, definitely get the works of Madeline Miller. Long may she write.

Reads like Classic Literary Fiction
This isn’t my usual type of read lately but I was intrigued by the reviews. I grew up reading Dickens and Brontë so every so often I like to pick up one like this for the love of literature. Miller is a literary artist and her writing is on par with some of the greats! If you love the classics then you’ll love her books.

My intro to Greek Retellings
4 ⭐️This book was an excellent retelling of the Goddess Circe’s story. It was captivating. Remarkable. Living a life where no matter what she did, it was never enough or it was simply too much. An outcast in every way.I felt the sting of exile. I felt the pain of loneliness. The anger of being ravished by vile men. The hurt of losing one’s you love. Most importantly, I felt victory for Circe as she began to choose herself and fight for her place in the world. While I loved the story, I must admit it was a bit of a struggle for me to grow attached. I struggled for the first 200 pages to be drawn in. The writing style is far different than I’ve ever read but once I got used to it, I couldn’t stop thinking about it. The story is exceptional. I can’t wait to pick up the song of Achilles next!

Fantastic Book
I’m obsessed with this book. I read it in 3 days, I do not read often, and it was hard for me to put it down. The writing is beautiful and the story is so intriguing. This book made me think about life a lot in a good way, and anyone who loves Greek mythology would love this book!

Amazing
Did not want this book to end. Such beautiful writing and unforgettable characters. I wish I knew more about Greek mythology to catch all the references but I'm sure it made for a more unpredictable book for me. Highly recommend.

Circle by Madeline Miller
She's done it again. I think Circe is even better than The Song of Achilles, which I thought was wonderful. The Odyssey as told thru the eyes of the witch goddess Circe.

a delightful read
Each page is a delight and the retained expectations of Circe change & grow with successive encounters with various formerly understood characters (Penelope, Pasiphae] reveal how poorly I understood those characters to begin with.

No puedes parar de leerlo
El libro es excelente, cuesta trabajo dejar de leerlo. Es el tipo de libro que no quieres que acabe. Físicamente a mí me parece que esta edición es muy bonita.

Great book, but not so great quality
Intended to gift to a friend but the paper is not lined properly and there are ink smudges across the page. Even some blots as well! Sad.

Great
I’m so excited to read this. After reading the Song Of Achilles, I have yet to read Madeline Miller’s Circe!! Madeline’s writing is divine and I never get bored. The paperback still has the beautiful cover with the designs so, so far so good. I’ve already read a few pages and I’m in love!!

Excellent read, an erudite retelling
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, with a retelling of Greek mythology through a women’s perspective. The lead character throughly elucidates how corrupting and soulless immortality becomes. Odysseus is portrayed in a far more realistic fashion. An excellent read and would recommend this book for summer reading!
