Fantastic Resource
We live in Illinois and use the Rail-Trails Midwest book all the time for planning trips and dreaming of trips. We picked up the Mid-Atlantic version for a trip to Maryland in the spring. We've already used this book for two trails in Maryland and a trail in Virginia, which we went out of our way to ride based on the information in this book. Rail trails are perfect for our family with three young children, minimizing our interaction with cars and dramatic grades. I can't do the same routes I might do alone, and so it is great to have a resource to identify these perfect trails. You will still need to supplement the information in this book with research on current trail conditions, but this book is a gateway to wonderful trips for the whole family.

A Must Have Book for Avid Bikers
I was extremely pleased at how fast I received this product. Amazon's fulfill center is AWESOME! Amazon always comes through with on-time or fast delivery, and every product is packaged perfectly. In regard to the product itself, well I can't say enough good things. My husband and I have been avid bike riders for 30 years and have been members of the rails-to-trails association for nearly as long. This is probably the 4th or 5th book we've gotten on the subject. This new edition is definitely a "must have" for anyone serious about riding in the Mid-Atlantic area.

Some perspective on trail length and inclusion of the C&O would make this much better
I love rail trails. But please, let's put things in perspective. You really should devote much more print to a 40 mile trail than to a one mile trail. I'd give an example, but then I'd have to open the book again. And yes- I know that the C&O canal trail is not technically a rail trail (it's a canal trail, obviously), but - I'm sorry - it should be included. It's in Maryland and it's 185 miles long. It's one of the best hiker/biker trails in the country. And it has the two things that people love about rail-trails: relatively flat and no motorized vehicles. Put it in as a "bonus" in the back if you like, but don't act like it doesn't exist.

Great book. Things are changing in the rails to ...
Great book. Things are changing in the rails to trails world with new trails added and extensions to existing trails completed. Hopefully they will republish frequently enough to keep pace. Just knowing where the trails are, surfaces, incline, parking access makes choosing the site to ride much easier.

Fantastic resource
This book is a wonderful guide to bike trails. It makes planning trips easy and fun, and it's very descriptive about the specifics of each trail (gravel, grass, paved, etc.)I thought I could just find this info on the internet, but to no avail, so I bought the book. I was nicely surprised that the book is exactly what I needed, good descriptions of each trail and a good map, AND how to get to the beginnings of each trail.

Great for trail riders!
Love this book. It makes great learning times before you travel on the trails. Example, is it gravel or paved. How long. were to park. They also have a great web sight. So before you ride read and enjoy.
