"Fits in hand nice"
I'm only giving it for because the black cord broke off the clip when I opened the package up, the plastic was dryed out and bridal. The grip was perfectly fine and worth buying. I will reorder and hopefully get one that's in better shape if not i can make one up. I would of given this 5 Stars if not for that.

these fish grabbers are a GREAT way to do your part to improve your local ...
I bought one of these from Orvis several years ago that was heavily discounted but still about 5x the price of this one. This one was so affordable, I worried it might be junk. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. All metal, etc......very similar to the Orvis version and just a little bigger which I think is an improvement. I may order a couple more for my 2 brothers. In general, these fish grabbers are a GREAT way to do your part to improve your local fishery.....reducing fish mortality caused by lactic acid in the fish's bloodstream from the fight....and then being pulled out of the water for the release. A weird comparison might be running a 50 yard dash and then immediately holding your head under water for a minute or two. Fish frequently die within a few hours after an exhausting fight and an "extended air" release. Other die a week or more later due to infection after the loss of the protective slime layer. But with a Fish Grabber, there is no need to put hands on the trout, so the slime layer is not compromised. And their gills are not damaged from exposure to the air during hook removal and pictures. In fact, pictures are actually easier because the fish will relax in the water.....their colors are more vibrant in the water, and you can hold them right at the surface or just above it. I have found that big brown trout hold still once they realize they cannot get away. Not just once, but many many times ....nearly 100 pct of the trout I've caught 15-20 inches will hold still after a couple seconds of "testing" to see if they can get away. You just need to prepare for the first couple seconds and hold on tight. I keep mine on a shock cord in case I lose my grip for any reason......so I can pull the fish right back. It's never happened but it probably will someday.Other benefits......you won't damage their swim bladder by holding them too tight.....and you maintain complete control of a 20+ inch trout and hold them longer while they recover....keeping them out of the streambed where dirt / debris can get into their gills. This is especially nice when it's very cold and you dont want to hold your hands in the water very long....just keep the tip of the grabber just under the surface and everybody is comfortable. Also, the fly-hook won't get caught in the netting while still in the trout's mouth (we've all been there) ......and further complicate the release. And finally, the odds of "not hooking your hand" while removing the fly are vastly improved......because you can hold the fish "steady".Great product.....just buy it. If you don't you'll just be one year older when you do ! :-)

Not Durable, included lanyard is a joke
This is a nice looking gripper, but it is not durable and holding power is weak. After about a dozen of uses the gripper cannot hold fish securely anymore because its lips are not intact anymore - they easily can shift side-wise about 1/8-3/16 inch. I did not hang any really big fish on it, the biggest fish were 5-6 pounds bass and catfish, few of which managed to escape the gripper (luckily for me the fish was already on the ground and once on in the water but still on the hook). On top of that the lanyard is a joke, it's very short and simply not suitable for tying it on the belt and reaching for fish at the same time. The result is - the lanyard snapped. I then purchased a replacement stainless steel coiled lanyard with golden that you can see on the photos.I'll try to get a replacement and update on its quality again later. If you plan on using it on smaller fish like 1-3lbs then it may work for you better. But not with my experience: 5-6lbs large mouth bass and catfish.
