RAB LightingRAB VXCA Weatherproof Round Box, Bronze

I have many years experience installing, Repairing and Replacing outdoor lighting, outlets & wiring them. Most or should I say almost ALL where cheap CRAP that didn't work properly or last up to or over a year without failing in some manor. With that said, I found RAB products here on Amazon. I read ALL the negative reviews, compare to number to the positive and determine if that person has any idea what their talking about, or just opened the box and wrote a review without actually installing it themselves, knowing other brands and see if it passed the true test of time. THEN I pick a product that survives my scrutiny of the reviews.So I purchased RAB components to build a security dusk to dawn duel floodlight over the large garage I have. The old unit was crap & installed by a complete retard. So I had to start by removing EVERYTHING including the connection box and wiring all the way to the breaker box ( Where the idiot that the whole garage could run on 2 20amp circuit breakers... DUH!). Now I'm updating the fuse box, wiring connection boxes, RAB (4 hole) Mounting plate, RAB 2 Flood Light Fixtures and 1 RAB Highly rated Sensor. First thing us installers notice is quality. These parts where impressive! Installation was a breeze, functionality was?is perfect!I was so impressed that over a year of use through earthquakes, rain, hail and power surges that fried almost everything else in the house & garage, The units still look and work great, So I purchased a few more for myself and family members. All of those units are still operating. One thing I did different was to install 25WATT 2500lm PAR38 COB LED floodlight bulbs that have a cool White Color Temperature : 6000K-6500K. This make the lighting not only spread more evenly, looks more like natural daylight and allows you to see further. Its Very impressive, so much so even the local Police stopped by and asked what i used to make such a quality light. Something to note: The COB LED flood lights have a weakly installed base and it was a must to keep ANY moisture out.Well the RAB H101W - 150 Watt Max. - PAR38 - Landscape Lighting - Flood Fixtures have excellent seals and fit (and in my case) fit snugly around the bulbs to help protect them.My suggestion, no matter what bulbs you use, is to coat the rubber gasket & socket area with dielectric grease. This will not only aid in sealing, but will prevent the bulb from seizing and possibly breaking off at the base when attempting to replace the bulb(s).YES I Highly recommend ANY RAB Products and will continue to purchase nothing but RAB products, because there is nothing like doing the job TWICE because you skimped the first time.

The color was almost a perfect match to the outdoor spot light that was mounted to the box. The down side was the screws that came with the light, which I'd assumed were a standard size, were to small and I had to go to the hardware store. Not sure which item was off?? I liked that plugs came with the light.

If you are going to add a outdoor outlet this is a great box and you can mount it without recessing it. I mounted it to brick to add a RAB flood light. I used Tapscon masonry anchors. If you have never mounted anything to brick or concrete you will need a hammer drill! not an impact driver or rotary drill, or you will crack the brick. I was able to turn the box so that the wire hole and the two anchors were into brick not to the mortar, I haven't had much luck over the years anchoring to mortar especially with expansion anchors.

This 4" weatherproof round box is excellent. I would highly recommend this product. It comes with plugs for the holes which a lot of boxes do not come with. The screw holes are 8/32 thread which is standard but not identified on the packaging. I found this box to be sturdy and well made.

Not sure how critical someone can get on a weatherproof junction box but the color/finish is good. The holes are the standard size you'd need for whatever you're using it for. I ran an exterior extension cord into the box to mount a security light and used a gland joint to secure the cord at the 1/2" hole (to create a solid grip on the cable and keep it from slipping) and it worked well. Mounts easily enough, has foam on the cover to create a weatherproof seal on the inside so your wires and splices stay dry and protected. Pretty much exactly what I needed.

The product is well built and sturdy, giving 3 stars because hardware was not included as promised in description. My simple job is now drawn out as I have to go out and buy the additional hardware.
