Works effectively and easily.I keep it near my front door and use it at home if I think a guest has had too much to drink and shouldn't drive.Instead of arguing about it (which never has happened) I offer the Alcohawk so they can test themselves.They are always surprised at their reading. Then another guest usually wants to use it too and it helps keep everymore responsible. Worth spending the money. I bought one for my husband's car as well. I think everyone should have one.

At first I was happy with the device, as I felt the readings were accurate and consistent. After about 8 months, the readings became very inconsistent, probably an indicator that the breathalyzer already needed calibration. For example, a person blows into the device and gets a 0.2 reading. 5 minutes goes by, the same person blows into the device again, but this time gets a higher 0.8 reading. Since I purchased this device, the high price of calibration has jumped even higher from $20 to $25. Let me just say how unhappy I am with having to calibrate the Alcohawk Pro roughly every 6 months or so for the extremely high price (especially relative to the cost of the device itself) of $25. Rather than spending the money to calibrate the device, I'll probably just sell it and be done with it.

I bought one of these about 6 months ago and use it 2 times daily. It has been very reliable and has provided accurate readings up until it failed completely this weekend. Never followed instructions as far as wait times or monthly calibration. Had many different users as well since it was such a novelty item. When this unit failed, it didn't err on the high side, it erred on the low side, and now fails to register any reading above 0.00 even after 3 glasses of wine. Chose to just replace it after having finally read the instructions and some of these reviews. Probably well past where calibration would be possible, although just for curiosity, I may send it in, just to understand the failure mode better. Hope I get another good one having read some of the negative reviews here.

I bought this product because it was used on me by a police officer. I passed (thank god) but didn't realize how close I was to the legal limit. That second glass of wine with dinner can sneak up on you. It comes with a handy 12 volt power source. Now I always check my BAC before driving no matter how safe I feel.

I ordered the AlcoHawk Pro after I read a review from another customer that the "device ready to receive breath" was only 20 seconds (reliably) where other units/brands can sometimes take minutes. Very glad I got this model as it works as advertised.

Accurate and easy to use. Definitely "two drinks" effects us all differently. I use it regularly so I don't accidentally drive drunk after having two beers with dinner.

We use this all the time. It records reading quickly and appears accurately. Per the instructions, don't have anything to drink for 20 minutes before taking test to avoid false reading. We are very happy we have this.
