Sparks defiantly fly when the two are together. Will Austin leave her big city, rich life and job to work a huge watermelon farm and make wine? Major life decisions await Austin and Rye. Really fun, entertaining story that will have you laughing out loud and laughing until tears run. Love Carolyn Brown books and characters.

Watermelon Wine...
Love Drunk CowboyBy Carolyn BrownBlurb:All Austin Lanier wants is to sell her inherited watermelon farm, slip on her stilettos and run back to corporate America. Until the drop dead sexy cowboy next door, Rye O'Donnell, decides he'll only take the farm if he can get the fiery woman who owns it as part of the deal...Review:Austin Lanier has only come looking to say goodbye to her grandmother but found out that the soil and water seeped into her heart. She’s a silk suit and stiletto girl who’s never had a beer. She begins to learn more about herself and her family as she learns how to run her grandmother’s farm. The first thing she learns is not to judge someone without meeting them. Rye isn’t the old man she thought he was. And he’s determined to worm his way into her heart.I loved that Austin enjoyed shocking her mom. Every phone call ended with my own laughter. I could see Austin’s mom getting more and more worried that she was losing her daughter. Add a dash of Grandma’s meddling from beyond the grave and you have a delightful read. The sex is sizzling when it finally comes about but the focus is on Austin’s transformation and the relationship she builds with Rye.The secondary characters will thrill you, from Molly and Greta to the O’Donnell siblings. My favorites were Austin’s mom and aunts. They sounded like high-powered women who all needed a cowboy to ride!

Disappointed
I liked the story but,,,, I really got into Carolyn's books because I knew it would be a great story with interesting quirky characters and a lot of humor and I wasn't disappointed in any of them until I started reading the cowboy stories. Burnt Boot series was great, but started leaning to too much sex. This series,,,, if it wasn't for the references to underpants instead of panties, I would have thought it was some of the authors I've gotten away from because the characters were jumping into bed every 6 or 7 pages. This is the first book in the Spikes and Spurs set and I'm already contemplating not reading the rest. The story was Great!!!! I loved how Rye and Austin developed their relationship even though Rye aggravated me a few times with his quick wrong assumptions and got snarky on her. But I really hated that every few pages they were jumping into bed, or a tub/shower, or in the truck, yadayadayada.I got into Carolyn's books to get away from that, so its a disappointment. It takes away from a really good story.

If you are looking for an adorable cowboy story that will make u giggle and sigh from start to finish look no further!
I have never written a review before but this book was so dang cute I just couldnt help myself! Rye O'Donnel can be my cowboy any day of the week he's sweet, schmexy, and cooks breakfast what more can a girl ask for?! And as far as heroines go Austin is right up there with my favorites shes sassy, strong, and hilarious. Even the side characters of this book were lovable I laughed so hard at Molly and Greta that my husband thought I had lost my mind...This book was absolutly charming and the only dissapointment I suffered was finding out the sequel wont be released until September. If you are looking for a book that will make you laugh one minute and sigh the next this is definately a story for u!

Northeastern Okie Review
Being from OK, originally, i loved seeing names & places I was familiar with. Laughed at the funny things the Texas little old ladies said. The hero, rodeo rancher was a fun, dreamy and believable character & Austin was a well thought out female sweetheart. Story was romantic and not cheesy. Enjoyed family relationships & vision more stories involving Ryes siblings. Was not really familiar with the rodeo scene, so learned something too. Did know Risistol (sp?) is a maker if cowboy hats & that was about it for Southwest lingo. I'm from north eastern Oklahoma, so had a little trouble, at first, figuring out if the setting was OK or TX. Some of the town names were recognizable, Duncan & where the famous snake festival is held. There's a Ringling, OK & a Henryetta, but knew when I saw spelling of Henrietta that that town is in Texas. So- once I finally figured that out, reading went more smoothly. Not sure if other town names are real, in Texas or Oklahoma, but guess it doesn't matter. Fun reading.

Love Drunk Cowboy: Spikes & Spurs Series, Book 1
First class read. You've got city slicker Austin Lanier who heads to the backwaters to fulfil her Aunts wishes for spreading her ashes and sorting out want she intends to do with a watermelon farm she's inherited. She intends to meet the old guy who lives next door that she's spoken to on the phone most Thursday nights over the last 6 months only to find that Rye O'Donnell is in fact drop dead gorgeous and only in his early thirties. He wants to buy the farm until he sees Austin then he's busy plotting how he can get both Austin and the farm. Loved the book, just couldn't put it down until I'd finished it.

Brilliant
I'm in love with the Spikes & Spurs series. The women are all feisty and the men are sometimes stubborn but always sexy. Carolyn Brown will have you giggling in places, ready to cry or want to reach in and shake someone and say "what are you doing". Her writing style just put you right in the middle of the story from the frist page.
