Hayward Seal Assembly for Multi-Port Valve
My part arrived on time. I know some have had an issue with this only being part of the valve but I read the description and looked at the picture and knew it was the seal assembly that I was looking for to fix my Hayward valve. I already had the valve out and disassembled so I was ready to put the seal assembly in and get the valve back up and working. One side note, you do not have to actually remove the entire valve. You can simply remove the top assembly to replace the seal assembly. A couple tips.... 1) make sure you keep all of the O-rings, washers, etc... and you either write down the order of reassembly or take a picture of each part as you disassemble. It will make putting things back together much easier. 2) Make sure you use faucet/valve grease on all the moving parts. This becomes important later to ensure the seal assembly goes down all the way to make a good seal so the valve pumps correctly and does not continually pump water out of the pool. 3) The spring that pushes the assembly down is short and strong. If you do not possess the strength to compress the spring and insert the handle pin then you should have an extra person there to help you. The other option is a set of 4" c-clamps. You can compress two sides of the valve top assembly enough to get the handle pin in. My valve with the new seal assembly has been in for about three days now with absolutely no problems. I gave this part 5 stars because it does and is exactly what Amazon advertises and any difficulties in reassembly is not the fault of the part. If you are mechanically inclined, have the proper tools/equipment, and are patient then this part is perfect for you and will save you a lot of money over buying the entire valve and having to replace part of the plumbing on your filter system.

Direct OEM Replacement!
Perfect replacement for my 14 year old Hayward filter unit. Unit started leaking through the backwash drain hose when in filter mode. Per online troubleshooting research identified this part and utilized an online video to replace it in 15 minutes time. Well worth getting a direct replacement and not trying to just scrape and replace the gasket to save a few bucks!

Perfect! But don't forget to buy new o-rings and lubrication!
This was a little difficult to install, but not because of the part itself. The design of the entire assembly is hard to swap out because the spring in the rest of the assembly has to be compressed. Took two people to swap out. But this part is perfect. It does include the embedded spider gasket. It solved our problem of water leaking out the waste line and the top lever being hard to turn. Works great now. You might want to order new O-rings to go with this. Ours looked good at first, but were old and had expanded so much that we could not get this back in. We had to go find new o-rings. Also, get yourself some lubrication for those o-rings. This does not come with the o-rings or small shaft gasket (sits next to the o-ring). I attached a picture of our old key seal assembly that we replaced.

Fixed My Backwash Port Leak - Hayward Pro Series S166T Sand Filter
This was the part I needed and is as advertised. If you're as unlucky as I was to own what is seemingly the only Hayward filter model in the universe that doesn't have a removable/replaceable spider gasket, this is the part you need!I was very worried about getting the handle/pin assembly apart and back together after reading about some having difficulty compressing the spring. I didn't have very much trouble with it at all and did not end up needing to get any clamps to compress it. My husband was able to press down on it (sort of a push up on the sides to compress it together) and I was able to get the pin for the handle back on. I guess if he wasn't home that day I may have had to run to the hardware store to buy a couple of clamps to get it compressed enough to slide the pin back in.Don't forget to either order 2 new o-rings or remove/transfer the o-rings from your old assembly because this part doesn't come with them!I've seen some reviews saying to just buy a whole new top assembly for the filter so you don't have to deal with compressin the spring, but besides being quite a bit more expensive, that also requires removing your filter plumbing and reconnecting. What a pain that would have been! With this part all you need to remove are the bolts/nuts that connect the handle assembly to the multiport then just pull it up and out. I brought it in the house to replace the part. Much better than removing the plumbing and dealing with possible leaks after reconnecting all of that. Most importantly, this fixed the slow drip leak that was coming from my backwash port.

Great replacement part
This is the second time we have purchased this part - the gasket on the unit wears down about every two years and you can't just replace it on this model filter head. Rather than spend more on an entire unit, we just get this part and replace it (easy to do, just remove the screws on the top of the unit, pull up - it will take a little pressure to break the seal, and then remove the pin that holds the handle in place, pull apart, swap o-rings over to new unit, and fit everything back together). Sometimes the unit doesn't want to be pushed together but if you add a little pool grease to the o-rings it will slide right on. There are good videos on YouTube showing the process, and if you are doing this without help you can use ratchet straps and a table to press the unit back together that way to insert the pin (I am a woman and do a lot of these repairs on my own). The part is a quality replacement and a whole lot less expensive than buying the whole head.
