War Hammer: Nate Temple Series Book 8

Excellent chapter
Excellent chapter in the Temple series. I liked the character development and the unexpected story twists. Silvers continues to repeat some elements from past books to remind the reader what has happened before and if I was reading these books with significant amounts of time between them these reviews would be helpful. However I find them a little annoying.

Best one yet!!!
I don't know how Shayne does it, but each book in the Nate Temple series just gets better and better! This book was an action thrill ride that you never wanted to get off! Nate and his friends must go back to Faery to bring back Ashley; Gunnar the alpha's mate, who was so seriously wounded in the battle against the Greeks and Athena that Mallory, a.k.a. Pan, had to take her into Faery to heal her. Last time Nate went into those wilds, he found his Wylde side that he didn't realize he had. Time runs differently in Faery so that he was gone for several weeks in what felt like to him a day. He's hesitant to leave Chateau Falco though, while Castor Queen and the Mad Hatter, his own ancestor, are on the hunt for him and would surely stoop to hurting those closest to him. It must be done, however, so he picks who must go with him. He finds some mysterious items before he goes and while he's in Faery he discovers a huge secret that his parents had managed to keep from him for his entire life. Will he get back in time to keep his allies safe? And what will happen on this trip to the group? Can they get any wilder than last time? And what the Hell is up with Hugin and Munin? Does he need to worry that Odin has for a beef with him, too? I'm not giving you any hints!! You simply MUST read this story! You won't be disappointed! If you haven't read the rest of the Nate Temple series,I would recommend that you do so before reading this one. It's not necessary, however you will have more insight to the characters and what is going on if you do.

Setting up the board to knock off all the pieces again
Once more, Silvers finds a way to rattle his status quo and stir up his world building. While not the titanic jumps in stakes or dynamic turn-arounds of some of the previous books, this one works on a (slightly) more subtle level, instead focusing heavily on the characters and dealing with the developments of their relationships in regards to prior events, and with new events that shed light on their history in ways they'd never imagined. The focus on characters over the fighting, though plenty of that still comes up, is a welcome addition given the tumultuous nature of everything in the last few books, and helps re-establish the development of many of the secondary characters who had been slipping into the background.Silvers is also holding his stride with his overlapping protagonist interactions, Callie Penrose once again making an appearance and setting up another small but important building block in her relationship with Nate Temple, helping him re-establish his humanity a bit with his family and friends. Her part is significant for Nate but not overplayed, and Silvers manages the timeline between their series like a well handled juggling act, not giving any spoilers for her storyline but showing that she is also still growing and developing in her own way during all of Nate's adventures so the balance of power, experience and maturity between the two of them remains a close balance. The books is also of course rife with hints as to the things coming in the future, Silvers likely looking to ratchet up the stakes a few more times before any of it starts to really unfold directly. Things are again pushing towards new revelations and for everything answered, more questions appear. Overall the book doesn't disappoint in any regard, and as always I look forward to what Silvers does next.

Wild Side leads to dropping the Hammer....what will come next?
It all started with his parents murder which led Nate Temple into cow-tipping the Minotaur... That's just the first chapter of Obsidian Son (Book 1 of this series), from there the roller coaster just gains speed and momentum pinning you to your seat & eagerly waiting to turn the page to find out what happens next! A Heavenly host, Apocalyptic Riders, Fae fairies & Gods, Hindu Gods, Greek Heroes are among some of Nate Temple's acquaintances before he learns to embrace his Wild Side (also the title of book 7).Even after all Shayne puts the readers through, not to mention the characters, there are few words that can describe the journey undertaken in War Hammer...many times the storyline hits you right in the gut with emotions (or the feels if you prefer) while at the same time smacking the reader & characters right in the face with major reveals! This series may only be 8 books deep so far but with the mastermind behind the writing and the love his fans have for the books we can expect many more books yet to come...and that's not even mentioning the Callie Penrose series which blends in (NOT a cross-over series) with these Nate Temple timeline...and vice versa. While they have different writing styles I can honestly say that Terry Goodkind has been at the top of my list for favorite authors, Shayne Silvers is right there with Terry! If you have read any of Shayne's books and found you couldn't put it down, laughed out loud or quietly (in your own head) cheered a character on...in short just loved that book/those books then you will absolutely want to add War Hammer to your library!

Supernatural schizophrenic.
This series has been an interesting exercise in multiple personality disorder. Nate seems to lurch from one crisis to the next, only learning after the event what he should have done. His production and then destruction of Indie as a Grimm shows his lack of thinking things through and merely acting on impulse, with a self pitying justification after the event. Despite his undoubted loyalty to some of his friends, Nate frequently comes across as a bit of a dick with adolescent tendencies.

Tote-taa-lyee oooh-mazing
This book settles any and all previous gripes. I am officially a Team Temple fan! Dedicated hardcore, just read EVERYTHING I can get my hands on! I don't know how Master Shayne sleeps, if he sleeps, with all the activity going on in that head of his.😂 Said with total affection. Back to the story. It was packed with action, explosions, (My inner tomboy rejoices) beefcake, dragons, fairies, Gods and magic galore! Too much to focus on any particular part without giving away spoilers. You'll find a cast of characters so loveable that you cheer them on to defeating their enemies, then slam dunk a couch cushion while celebrating in your best Thriller zombie 'victory' dance. Now. I'm ready for book 9.💖

We salute you again as you surpass yourself ,again
Just when you think his writing cant get any better - Shayne Silvers pens another novel that blows your mind. He takes you on a journey through the world of the fae, to the gods ,to what now seems to be everyday life - if sparkling dragons, one eyed werewolves, golden vampires and the most unlikely character to wear red high heels can be viewed as normal. The ride gets better every book, and you'll find yourself staying up to stupid o'clock to finish this as you wont be able to put it down. There are more questions raised, but in a good cant wait for the next book way, and the author very cleverly leaves you wanting more. This is word smithing of the highest order, and the way the fabric of the world has been woven leads you to believe in magic the way you did as a child when you first read Lord of the Rings and got drawn in to this fabulous world of myths, magics and legends

I want more!!!
I have read all the books so far, and the most important thing I can say is that Shayne Silvers is only getting better, also hes showing no signs of slowing down, which is great news for us fans!!Nate continues to try and figure out the game his parents were playing, and as he gets some answers, a whole bunch of new questions need asked, full of twists, turns, and a whole barrel full of snark this book will leave you begging for the next one.
