SunlineSuper FC Sniper Fluorocarbon Fishing Line

This works well on bait casters, spinning reels as well as my wife's Zebco ZO2 spin caster. We are using last years line and the memory is not bad at all. The first cast of the day tends to coil somewhat, but after that it is really is not an issue. Like any mono type line, just check it for nicks. That's where it will break if stressed.

I fish upstate NY for Ontario trib Steelhead and Finger Lakes trib Rainbows. I’ve used Seaguar Invisx for 20 years, and loved it. I recently had some issues with minor tangles around my tip-top and guides, so I just started looking on line. The Sunline came up as being a super quality fluorocarbon on a lot of reviews. It is on the expensive side, but not really any more than the Seaguar. I ordered two 200 yard spools, one 6 pound test and one 8 pound test. I ran the 6 pound today and was very impressed. A little more stiff, but not a problem. Second drift and I hooked a 27” Rainbow that put that line to the test. The fish weighed close to 8 pounds, and was a handful to bring to net, but that line held true. This stuff is really a very tough line. Pulling snags, it broke more like it was 10 pound test. Knot strength was equally as strong. And sensitivity was excellent. Being invisible in water was obvious. This stream was very clear, yet I caught a real good number of fish in a relatively short(3 hr) period. Time will tell, but my first impression is the Sunline is much better than good!

Casts smoothly and holds very little memory. This line sinks at a good speed, it neither pulls the lure to the bottom nor does it float the lure; rather it allows the lure to sink at a natural speed which gives a better presentation.This may be in my head but this line feels a little thicker than other fluorocarbons I have of the same test. That being said it isn’t crazy thick, it just feels thicker than others.Even with it feeling thicker than other fluorocarbons I really like fishing this line; especially when fishing mid to deep crank baits. I feel like this line allows for a natural presentation on the sink as well as allows the lures to have natural swim action and vibration on the retrieval.

I was a little hesitant to use 12 lb flouro again on a spinning reel that's max rated for 12 lb mono. I tried the Berkely XL Smooth Casting 12 lb flouro and it was a NIGHTMARE. Nothing but bird's nests and having to straighten the line out on nearly 100% of my casts. Finally, after a few fishing trips I just cut off what little line was left on the spool. After reading the reviews for this line I figured I would give 12 lb flouro one more shot with this Sunline brand. I've fished 3x with it and so far no problems whatsoever. Only once or twice out of hundreds of casts was there a loop in the line, no birds' nests, no snapped lines from fish and it casted just as far and smooth as the Berkley 10 lb smooth casting line. This is my new go to flouro line.

Thought I had found a 200 yd spool of 16lb for a really good price, showed up and it was 165yd. Love the line, but vendor should advertise correctly.

My first foray into fluorocarbon. I was frightened by some of the reviews on giving it a try. I spooled it up on a spinning reel with no problems. I then went fishing. Used no swivel casting a swim bait and didn't experience any line twist or unspooling on it's own. Didn't notice any memory any worse than similar diameter mono. Really didn't see any advantage or disadvantage to mono on the way it cast ,felt or set hooks. Maybe it sinks better;couldn't tell that either. Permanent snag in cat tails showed me it doesn't break prematurely as it required a lot of effort to break off. Seemed better in that regard to mono of same # test. The visibility advantage I do believe as I found it hard to see tying knots as the light doesn't reflect on it.. Whether that's worth the price to me I guess depends on how clear of water you fish. Caught em for me.
