Ballast only lasted 4 days
I purchased 3 of these ballast. I installed 2 of them last week. One has already quit working. They arrived in a plain brown box wrapped in bubble wrap. UPC's were defaced. Hard to know if these were actually new.

Maybe switch to ballast bipass LED tubes instead!!!!!
I’m sorry, I haven’t put this particular ballast into service yet but I’m guessing it’s as good as the others that I’ve ordered from Amazon. I’m starting to think that ballast bi-pass, LED tubes are the better route to go. I put some in for my daughter and now she will never have to worry about replacing ballasts again and have longer lasting, cheaper to operate tubes verses her old noisy fluorescents that had hot to the touch ballasts!

Excellent replacement for garage ceiling T1296 flourescent lights (read before buying)
If your flourscent lights are flickering, do the following.1) Remove the carefully and clean them using glass cleaner.2) If they still flicker, then replace them with the same wattage.3) If they still flicker or flicker for several minutes until they become solid, they you need this unit.4) Note: some ballasts have to warm up if they are colder than 60 degrees fahrenheit.InstallationIf was a bit more time consuming that I expected but it worked perfectly.1) the wiring in my existing fixture is slightly different, so I have to change the direction of the wiring and add more more wire twists - but no big deal.2) this unt is shorter than my original, so I had to drill screw holes in the metal - not a big deal.Overall, it works well. When you turn them on, they go from off to on in about 2 seconds and do not flicker at all.

The Lights went out..........
It did not work and after several phone calls with GE Tech personnel to review the wiring pattern they suggested it was bad and I should acquire another one. Unfortunately, the company "Light Bulbs International that sold it told me tried to tell me I had to go to GE for refund.I explained that I was their client not GE's.Lots of push back from Light Bulbs International and I had to threaten further action through Amazon and GE. They gave in and refunded the purchase price.Sounds like another off shore middleman selling "seconds"I would not recommend this vendor.

Installation is not straight forward
Ballast was a little tricky to install. The holes in the ballast did not match my old light studs. Also the wiring was different than the one that had failed. With some extra work, and a few internet look-ups, I was able to install it and wire it. Once done, it works as expected.
