I've been using these for years working as a field geologist. They survive most of the abuse I'vee thrown at them; wet-dry, hot-cold, and plenty of dirt. I also like these because of the spiral binding so I can flip them around.

I use it for general notebook and ship's log. The grid side with the red line down the middle is perfect for graphing a deviation chart tide or current graph.

These are excellent field notebooks which i have used for years as a field geologist. Highly recommended.

Great for land survey notes and for photographing notes without holding field book open.
