Shattered Dreams: The Lost and Canceled Space Missions (Outward Odyssey: A People's History of Spaceflight)

I enjoyed this book immensely. We have a habit in our culture of just focusing on "success" -- but we rarely spend time looking at the other side of that equation. (In spaceflight, Apollo 13 being the rare exception). Colin Burgess has written a profoundly inspiring book as he humanizes a universal truth that disappointment/failure can also be transformational. Sometimes heartbreakingly tragic, sometimes just bad timing and bad luck, but always informative and often inspirational, "Shattered Dreams" takes a unique look at the stories that illuminate the realities of human spaceflight -- a must read in order to get a more complete understanding of the risks and unintended outcomes when one reaches for one's dreams (and sometimes falls short).

Solid book telling compelling stories that aren’t typically grouped together like this. A good add to your astronaut bookshelf

Learned a lot would have like to have heard more about missions lost after Challenger such as The Vandenberg launches and Young’s Seventh mission
