Conair SU7 Soothing Sounds and Relaxation Clock Radio

Delivered VERY quickly and works great. The numbers are larger than the one it replaced and the choice of sounds is adequate for my needs. It took me a couple of weeks to get used to where all the buttons were, but now I can manage them even in the dark. My favorite is waking to the sound of waves, but there are a couple others that I like almost as much. I needed one with a battery backup, since there are short power outages that could mess up my morning...and this clock has preformed well in that regard, as well. Super value!November 22, 2012I still love this alarm clock! Still works great, battery backup has gotten me to work despite power outages. Only problem I experienced was when my cat walked on it and changed the sound selection. A different sound choice may require a louder volume setting... So, a change in the selection might mean that it is not loud enough to wake you up. I lucked out and woke up anyway, but not because of the sound. Now the clock sits on a shelf where he can't walk.

I've had this product for a year now, and I use it every night. It is inexpensive and I don't usually love ConAir products, but honestly I was desperate for something to help me sleep so I gave this a try. I am SO glad I did!There are ten different sounds including one that sounds like a rainforest which for the life of my I can't understand (all that chattery bug noise is creepy to me) but enough water/rain/ocean sound choices to keep me satisfied.It works as a dual alarm clock & am/fm radio, but I could care less about those features. All I need is a machine that will make a steady rain/ocean/waterfall noise ALL NIGHT, and this does it with one button press. I turn the screen away from the bed as the light is a little bright on either setting, but that's my biggest complaint. It's compact enough to pack for vacation, which I do because I honestly cannot sleep without this. Volume adjusts so it's quiet enough not to bother your partner if it's on your side of the bed, but can be loud enough to drown out the kids and the dog if you need an afternoon nap.

I got this to replace the air cleaner that we have run in my son's bedroom at night to block out noise from TV and conversation. Plus I didn't want to spend the $100 bucks they want for a new air filter.PRO:SWorks great, easy to use!We can travel with it when we go to stay with my parents or when we go to the lake, it fits right in the lugauge...Pleanty of volume, and options. My son loves the radio, it's his first in his room... We love it!CONS:It is hard to read the led read out on the clock unless you are directly in front of it and at the right height, and the nature sounds are a little "canned" with some artificial noise artifacts embedded, but they all just add to the white noise effect. These things are easily overlooked by us, and don't really feel they are problematic enough to trully complain about it. I am sure you can get better units that have better sound if you want to pay way more.If youe are looking for a device to do what I wanted it to do, You will be more than satisfied with this unit.>>Update<< almost 3 years later our two "sound machines" as my kids call them are still working like the day we bought them very pleased. Well worth the money spent. I'd buy them again. Just be careful if they are left in a place where your kids can reach them- it apparently very easy to turn on the alarm for 12:00. Every once in a while my wife and I will be awoken by the sudden change of sound to an alarm sound as one of our boys inadvertantly set the alarm for midnight... not awesome.But that is my only beef. Overall great, well made units!Update--4/21/2012: The time readout is still as hard to read as the day we got them unless you are looking at just the right angle. But 4 years later they also work as well as the day we got them. And we travel with them all the time too. So they get knocked around a bit from time to time. Great overall product!

We bought this a few weeks ago, and I can safely say that my wife and I are definitely not fans of this alarm clock. As a sound machine, it fails because the speaker sucks and nothing sounds right. I was worried it would sound too fake to help me sleep and it sure does. I just focus on how awful it sounds and think about how I should just turn it off... not good when trying to fall back to sleep. The alarm clock portion is a fail also. The backlight has 2 settings and multiple contrast options- but you really want the highest contrast available, and even on the low setting, the light is bright. I wish it had an option to switch it off altogether, but it does not. The alarm is cumbersome to set, and though I figured it out, it felt like it should have been easier. I could very easily accidentally set the time rather than the alarm and not wake up, and I'm sure I would eventually if I weren't returning it. The one good thing I can say is that although the sounds can be set to shut off at the same time, you can play the sounds indefinitely until the alarm sounds the next day. It'd be pretty easy to accidentally set the alarm to nature sounds and sleep right through, though. Spend a bit more and get something with better speakers and sound quality. We'll check out the $60 Sharper Image one now, I'd imagine. Scathing review to follow? We'll see!
