I bought it because the scroll ball on my Apple mouse could only scroll down, not up (when that happens, you can roll it over paper to clean it and that will fix it for awhile, but eventually mine broke completely). This new mouse is a bit loud when clicking and scrolling, but I actually prefer that to a completely silent mouse. My only slight complaint about this mouse is that the scroll ball only rolls up and down, so you can't scroll sideways in documents or on a webpage. You can tell that from the picture but it didn't occur to me how often I actually did that with my Apple mouse and now I can't do it. It's not the end of the world, just wanted to point that out in case someone else didn't think of it too. Otherwise it seems to work well and is nice enough looking. I've only had it for one day so I can't speak to how durable it is yet. Edit: I found a workaround for the sideways scrolling issue - if you hold down the Shift key while rolling the rollerball, you can scroll sideways! This only works if you're on a page or document that has content off the side of the page.
