Fantastic!
We are homeschoolers, and I am always looking for materials that are fun and that work. Number 1-30 accomplishes both goals. There is a lot of repetition, but it's great for little guys who are learning to write, read, and count their numbers. All three of my boys loved the graphics and activities, and learned their numbers. My second son in particular used to get stuck at 11, 12, 13, etc. This book got him and the others very confident and proficient. We used it for two boys at age 3 and one at age 4. Everyone loves Kumon in our house, and nobody ever complains when I bring the books out. I highly recommend this book.

Basic and no frills, but effective
Great for my reluctant 4 year old learner. Very basic and repetitive...which is exactly what I needed. Helps with writing numbers.

Great Book For Learning About Numbers!
The Kumon series of books works by empowering children to succeed on their own. The books get successively more difficult as they build upon skills learned from the previous pages, so that by the end of the book the child has a sense of accomplishment and be ready to move on to the next level. The instructor is more of a mentor or coach than a teacher in a classroom. This numbers book is designed to help teach familiarity of numbers 1-30 and how to write them. It does this by doing simple dot-to-dots, number tracing, number puzzles, number matching with objects, and counting with dots. There's quite a bit of number writing practice mixed in with a lot of fun activities. My 3 year old can easily follow the first half of the book without much of a problem. The second half is a little more difficult as it switches to dots instead of objects. The font becomes smaller and the numbers more abundant. I started photocopying the pages of the book, but then realized that my child doesn't mind just going over and over the same numbers again and again.Kumon also has the My Book Of Number Games 1-70 (Kumon Workbooks) , My Book Of Numbers 1-120 (Kumon Workbooks) , and My Book Of Number Games 1-150 (Kumon Workbooks) books in the series, but this is the first book to start out with when learning the numbers. Highly recommended!

Kumon is excellent
Excellent learning tools. The books have clear parent instructions and my 3 1/2 year old grandson absolutely loves them. It makes for great quality time and he looks forward to working in these books. instead of candy or ice cream, these workbooks have become his "treat". The numbers book gives just the right amount of visual, tracing, and on-your-own exposure to writing numbers

Pretty good, but only with additional tools
I agree with other reviewers that this books needs FAR more practice pages than are provided. Following the advice of another reviewer for other Kumon books, I use clear plastic page protectors and colorful dry erase markers so my kid can just wipe away her work when she finishes a page with a paper towel. It leaves the book completely clean for more practice. The younger the kid the more review they will need. I place a page protector on the exercise I want plus the opposite page, then my kid picks her marker. This also works when she makes mistakes, because she can correct them rather than having a permanent mistake in her book.I wish it wasn't only the first ten pages that are in full color. The rest of the book uses spot color, different shades of one color per page, so it misses the charm of their mazes, cutting and tracing books. I wish there was a greater variety of exercises, but perhaps there is only so much you can do. I definitely like having this book rather than coming up with worksheets myself.Breakdown of the book exercises (2 pages per exercise):1-5: Number puzzles (connecting dots using numbers 1-10)6-16: Writing numbers 1-10 (3 different ways of tracing)17-18: Count and match to the correct number19-21: Various tracing, counting and filling in missing numbers 1-1022-22: Number puzzles (using numbers 1-20)23-29: Counting and circling numbers, various tracing and filling in missing numbers 1-2030-31: Number puzzles (using numbers 1-30)32-40: fill in numbers missing in sequenceThe last exercise has almost all the numbers missing, so clearly kids need a lot of practice to get to that point. Especially if they are younger. My three year old will focus more on practicing writing the numbers. The books helped me realize she couldn't recognize a number when it wasn't in sequential order. With the page protectors and dry erase markers, I don't need additional books, and it's clean enough for younger siblings.

Straight forward - it is great
Bought this for my 5 year old to strengthen his number writing skills. I do "home school preschool" with him. He loved this book so much that he did it all in one week. He did a lot of it on his own. He would independently get it off the shelf and work on it, that is how much he loved it. I say if a child likes a book so much that he can't put it down it is great, especially when it teaches him great skills. He definitely knew how to write all his numbers by the end. I don't agree with the reviewer who said you need to make photocopies. Since this book goes to #30 your child is writing 0-9 over and over again just by writing the numbers 10-30 as well. There is not a single number below 30 that my child does not know how to write on his own now.

We love the Kumon books
We love the Kumon books! This is one of several that we own and it is very engaging. My son, who normally shuns writing, did 21 pages on his first day! He's five, has been in Montessori for two years and never really engaged with the materials. This is completely different; he's interested and engaged in a way that I've been hoping to see for some time. I particularly like the fun and easy way that they show the proper direction for writing. He's struggled with that in the past and is finding it easy with Kumon.

Great first # workbook
I am a homeschool mom and have tried several math curriculums. This one really worked well with teaching my 4 year old. I also recommend the Kummon book for #'s 1- 120.

Excelente
