Works great when used correctly. Highly recommended!
It WORKS.A background: I bought this comb to try on my pit-mix, dog who is extrenely allergic to fleas and has had a bit of a problem with them this year. I have been treating the yard, around the house, and keep topical veterinary flea treatments as well as a seresto collar. Alas, they love my poor girl and she still has a few fleas on her after trips outside to go potty. Topical flea treatments won't kill the fleas until they bite and aren't 100% effective anyway. I believe the stay cats my neighbors feed have a lot to do with the flea problem outside, but that is another issue altogether.I worked in the veterinary field for almost 11 years from 2004-2015 as a Veterinary Assistant and never heard of this product until I went on Amazon to buy a regular flea comb. It was less than $20 but had some very mixed reviews. I also watched some videos on YouTube of people using this. Some had poor results but were clearly using it incorrectly. One guy was trying to kill and pull and embedded tick out with it and I felt so sorry for the dog!! He kept saying it was a big flea and claiming the comb didn't work. Of course he was completely wrong. One pass over my dog today after I received the comb and I saw the spark of electricity and immediately pulled off a dead flea. The comb makes them easy to eject so you don't even have to touch the fleas too!! I got a few more after going over her whole body. I have not tried this on my cats yet but they will be next!Tips for use that I have found helpful so far:1. Hold the comb at and angle and go with the direction of hair growth. Comb SLOWLY and smoothly. I have seen people in videos comb much too quickly, this will definitely not work. My dog has short, straight hair so this was easy for me. I am not sure yet on a thicker, longer, or curly coat but will be trying it on my longer haired shepard mix soon to see how it does on his undercoat and length.2. BRUSH/comb your dog and make sure they are clean first, before you use this comb. This product has fine teeth like all flea combs and will pick up dandruff and loose hair. It works best when not clogged up with that debris.3. Batteries were not included and the battery door is a little tricky to get back on. Put the non-spring part in first then push in the other half and it goes in easier. You'll see what I mean when you get it.4. Be gentle and praise your pet! My dog actually really seems to enjoy being combed with this although her skin did spasm/twitch a little whenever I zapped a flea. She did not cry or try to move but then again she is a 13 year old and extremely well behaved dog who grew up around a veterinary office. I have seem peoples reviews claiming their dogs hated it but that was not the case at all for mine. I gave her a lot of praise and a small treat after I was finished.4. The product beeps when it it on, every few seconds. If it starts beeping rapidly, turn off the power and eject any debris or dead fleas from the comb.

Works on Most Cats
Two of my cats were okay with this, and I loved it for that reason, but one of them freaked out and runs away whenever she sees it.

Zaps & Kills, but your dogs may not like that ๐คจ
I like this Bulbhead comb, but itโs getting a 3 rating, because I can only use it on one of my three dogs.1. Mr. Pickles is a chihuahua terrier. Flea allergies - Yes. Nice thick brindle coat. While combing him I can hear the zaps as it catches the fleas. Mr. Pickles loves being scratched and combed hard and loves the zaps. ๐๐๐2. Mickey is a Russell Terrier. Flea allergies - Yes. White with big light brown spots on anvery thin coat. He chews his fur and looks like a skinny pink pig with a bald pink tail that looks like a jumbo shrimp. He loves getting brushed hard, but not with this comb. After one flea zapping he felt it and that was it. NO MORE! Probably because itโs comb to skin with little fur. Sorry Mickey itโs time for the cone. ๐๐๐3. Gherkin is a weenie Chihuahua. Flea allergies - No and thank God! Heโs tan with a perfect coat and the fleas love him. While using the comb on Gherkin it was just like the advertisement. These suckers were being zapped like crazy, but Gherkin had to be restrained because he didnโt like the feeling of the zapping. Thatโs okay because for him to like the Bulbhead would have been a bonus, but Iโm still using it on him. ๐๐๐So there you have it. Make sure your dog likes to be scratched or brushed hard and it might make a difference if they donโt have enough fur to absorb the zapping.

Fry the bastards!! Crackling Video included
The media could not be loaded. ย Does it work?! Yes it does! See the video and enjoy the little crackles of the flea being fried sound! Too bad you can't smell the stink!Pros- it does work! The beeping speeds up to let you know you got something.Cons-really dark fur/hair, or matted makes it harder to find and catch fleas. My blonde Pekingnese was easier to visualize black fleas against light fur. But longer hair meant flea could escape attempts, because narrow tines mean you can snag fur while catching fleas. Your pet has to really enjoy being flea combed for it to really be productive, as actually seeing the flea get caught is helpful to make sure you know you got it so it will die.Tips-combing angle needs to be right to not scoot the flea along, but rather catch it from underneath and lift so it will start to be zapped.. Caution not to get closer to flat flat against skin or night zap pet. Patience and Practice might really help. Happy zapping!

It did what it said but didn't kill any fleas
Was easy to use but our fleas must be really fast or smart, it didn't kill any that we could see. The little beasts decided to bite me as well as our Beagle as punishment (we have a colony of wild cats that cross our yard and my poor dog picks up fleas every time she goes out). We spray outside & inside, we catch cats in humane traps and take them to the Humane Society, our Beagle gets flea drops, wears a flea collar, gets regular bathes but nothing seems to help. Don't know what to do anymore. Returned product with no problems.

It is the cat's pajamas.
It is easy and very satisfying to use. I've killed over a hundred fleas within the last few months. Be carefull not to let a supple fold of your pet's skin pass betweent the comb's teeth as this will cause a painful shock. Stretch the skin taught in areas where thin skin may, otherwise, pass between the teeth of the comb.Calling it a flea-zapper comb is more apropos. Visible electical discharges immobilize or kill the fleas as they contact teeth of the comb. Plastic tips on the teeth prevent discharges to your pet's skin, if properly used.
