Can you fit the plate vertically as well as horizontally? Thanks

Yes I have a 2001 Suzuki GSXR 1000 custom out with a 240 kit it fits fine depends what direct you want it vertically or horizontally its easy take it apart

I purchased. even though there are 4 holes you cannot turn it to mount vertical. the holes will not line up?

No you can not. Right in the name of the license plate frame it says Side Mount. I have 08 ZX6R i took off rear right foot peg(passenger foot peg) put the frame holder against my frame then put the foot peg over the license plate frame and ran the bolt through the foot peg and frame then put nut on. Have had no problems
