The only case I will use for my iPad mini 5th gen
This is maybe the third time I’ve purchased this iPad cover. I’m clumsy and this protects my iPad. The reason I’ve replaced are — the rubber part on my first was a little stretched out and would come away at the sides. Completely my fault, I just removed it too many times, and the screen protector was scratched, again my fault. The second time was because it was exposed to sand at the beach and the fine sand lodged itself around the edges of the screen protector and I believe that it interfered with the protective screen coming into contact with the iPad screen and the touch capability was effected. Previous reviews mention that they had a hard time getting it open. It does take a little bit, but if you look at the back side, you’ll see the arrows. You just need to pry it apart in those areas and it will open easy enough. Granted this isn’t my first, so I’m familiar with it. One thing I feel could be improved upon is the piece that covers the charging port. After a while, mine tore off. I personally don’t use the outer hard shell part of the case. As long as I have this iPad 5th gen, this is the case I will use.

The last one only lasted four years.
I leave my iPad in the truck when I'm camping. I know the heat is bad for them both. Eventually the Otter box got saggy and I could not access the buttons. The protector case, the hard one was fine it was the rubber padded part. The failure was my fault. I now do not leave my iPad in the truck, this Otter box should last longer.Good enough that I bought another one.

Pricey, but Fantastic iPad Case
I bought an iPad mini and wanted to protect it. I researched multiple reviews on the internet before making my decision. OtterBox kept coming up again and again. The OtterBox case offers multiple layers of protection to the iPad. The case that wraps around the tablet has a built in screen protector. All the holes line up, so it doesn’t block your camera or access to the ports. I like that it comes with an outer “shield” that has a built in stand. My little 3 year old loves using my iPad mini. He drops it all the time but so far so good, no problems thanks to this cover. My son also leaves sticky little finger prints on the screen, but I just take take a damp cloth to wipe it and it’s clean. He’s spilled water on it and it didn’t penetrate the screen protector, but mind you I got to it right away to wipe it.The only issues I had was getting the IPad into the case. I remember having some difficulty separating the case to get the IPad into the case. The other issue is that the case is heavy. The case offers great protection, but adds weight to the iPad.Very happy with the case. A bit pricey, but with this case , you get what you pay for. It really does offer great protection to your iPad.

A+ Protection = Peace of Mind
My first Otterbox Defender case protected my precious iPad mini5 for what seems like ~ at least 5 years? before the port covers began to come loose. I just bought a replacement Otterbox, and I’m completely happy with it. As the title of this review states, “A+ Protection = Peace of Mind”.

Good protection
Don’t like the stand up feature. It doesn’t put the iPad at a readable position. But it is lightweight and the case has a good enough grip that I hold it all the time.

A good case, but not perfect
They included a license/warranty foldout in about 20 languages but couldn't be bothered to include directions on how to open the damn thing-- which is not a small feat considering it's a rubber housing and two large ABS plastic bits with a ton of clips. I had to go look up a 3rd party video on Youtube to figure out how to open it. The shoddy attached plastic "screen protector" covers the fingerprint sensor and is generally terrible, but thankfully it comes off easily (albeit leaving behind a bunch of sticky crap that didn't come off with rubbing alcohol). Most folks will install a durable glass protector immediately, so this part of the design makes no sense. It would be nice if they sold a version of this without the clear plastic bit and minus the weird swingy hinge thing in the outer cover. I don't need anything else moving around potentially damaging things while the shell is closed.Once together it certainly feels sturdy. I bought this to protect my charts in the cockpit of a small plane in heavy turbulence, and the case covers everything well enough that nothing will get damaged in a flight bag. But it could just as easily see duty showing draft plans at a construction site or emailing your parents from atop that mountain. It's such a sensible upgrade you wonder why Apple is still selling a flimsy piece of folding cardboard with a magnet for $40 and calling it a cover-- or why they don't just increase the thickness beyond "tortilla chip" and add more battery volume. Anyway, problem solved.

Snug fit, good quality, pretty easy to figure out
I was a little apprehensive about getting it to fit onto the iPad Mini 5 after reading some reviews, but I have a defender case for my phone so figured it couldn't be that hard. It IS a little different than a phone case but I couldn't quite get the rubberized skin off, so I went to YouTube and had it off in about 30 seconds. Easy to do after that and the whole installation took me maybe 5 minutes, tops including watching the video. It fits very snug, all the ports lined up and had no issue with the "bumps" covering the on/off and sound buttons. The port covers are a snug fit but not hard to pull up when needed. I like that they fit so well when not in use, as it keeps dust and stuff out of those openings. If I had to take it on and off with any regularity, it would probably be annoying but I dont plan to take it off so pretty happy with the purchase.
