In 1964, Eddy Merckx became the amateur world champion in Sallanches, France. This marked the start of his extraordinarily successful career as a cyclist. The Sallanches 64 is a carbon racing bike that combines compliance with a high level of stiffness. This versatile racing machine is the ideal mix of high performance and endurance. And this frame has also been given a special internal treatment so that the inside looks just as clean as the outside, resulting in a weight of barely 1100 grams.Frame: Carbon Monocoque DiscFork: Carbon Monocoque DiscWheelset: Fulcrum Racing SportTires: Continental Ultra Sport II 25Shifters: Shimano Tiagra ST-RS405 Saddle Prologo K3 STNFront Derailleur: Shimano Tiagra FD-4700F Handlebar: Deda Zero 31,7mm 420Rear Derailleur: Shimano Tiagra RD-4700 SS Stem: Deda Zero 80mmCrankset: Shimano Tiagra FC-4700, 50-34T 170 Griptape: Eddy Merckx Grip Tape BlackBottom Bracket: Shimano BB-RS500PB Cassette: Shimano Tiagra CS-HG500-10 12-18T Chain: Shimano CN-HG54-10 Brakes: Shimano BR-RS405

Great carbon frame value. Disc brakes are wonderful
The carbon frame at this price was a steal. They get to this price point due to the new Merckx models coming out, and the grouppo and wheelset. The star of the show here is the disc brakes. The Shimano BR-RS405 brakes are wondeful, and if you're an aggressive descender or corner-taker, you'll absolutely love them. I actually really like the Tiagra grouppo. Very smooth and well tuned. The Deda bar and stems are short and narrow for the Large size I purchased, but with the frame value I can deal with replacing it this season. The carbon frame really takes the edge of long rides, making the much more comfortable, and its immediately noticeable. The light frame and Tiagra CS-HG500-10 12-18T cassette made it hill friendly right out of the store. The Prologo K3 STN saddle is very nice, and not sure I need to update it anytime soon. The Continental Ultra Sport II 25 tires wear very quickly, and don't really like the rain. My Sallanches was delivered to a local Performance store, where they built it out. That was a nice extra, but the build out wasn't the best, as I needed to tighten things up when I got home, but still a nice part of the deal.
