What a great book
Received fast - read about the maple butter in an article, so looked up the book and purchased. This book is very interesting - author talks about herself and her experiences, gives detailed instructions on beginning to end maple syrup production. Love all the recipes included in the book. Entire section on alternate trees to use for making syrup aside from Maples. I have those annoying box elders....who knew you can tap them for syrup. Also a recipe for lilac syrup. Great reference book with many helpful tips. Just started homesteading in the last year, so another way to be self sustaining.

Loaded with tips, recipes and information
This book is full of the sweet goodness of maple and genuine stories of the author and her family.Even if you never plan to tap a tree, this book is a great read. It is filled with inspiration, delicious recipes and tips. But, if you do want to tap some trees, Michelle covers everything you need to get started and walks you through some of the lessons they learned.I never knew there were so many healthy benefits in maple sap and syrup. I honestly had to go and fill a spoon with maple syrup - my mouth was watering just flipping through the pages. And I had never considered using maple syrup as a sweetener in baking rather than processed white sugar. Michelle really goes does a great job describing the benefits to making this your go-to natural sweetener. I've already ordered some syrup to make my own maple sugar!I'll be giving this book along with a bottle of syrup to several people as Christmas presents this year. It is beautiful to look through and a great resource.Enjoy!

Must have book for baking maple and tapping too!
While we live in Western Oregon, and don't have many maple trees to tap nor does it get cold enough to really do so I just had to have this book! Not able to eat refined sugar or sugar of any sort maple has been our sweetener of choice along with raw honey. This book has a great conversion chart along with a bunch of recipes for baking with maple as well as fabulous savory dishes. It also makes me want to move to a place where we could have our own sugar bush. I know if we did I'd have just the book to guide us through each and every step of tapping maple. Beautifully laid out and very detailed. Worth it for just the recipes even if your not a sugar maker.

Nice story
Very nice book with the exception of the fact that they use non food grade buckets for maple syrup making.

Syrup Makers' Reference
I met Michelle when she was doing research for the book. Bought book out of solidarity. Built my own reverse osmosis from excellent instructions on her web site - Souly Rested. Book is a good read with best info I have found on other trees you can tap. Debunks hickory syrup myth. Great info on how to make maple sugar. Liked it so much I bought two more for syrup making buddies. But this business about ruining a perfectly good pancake with sorghum is totally outrageous! As an apology to sorghum people, her next book must be: "Sorghum: Boys Playing with Fire and Mules"

A beautiful and useful book!
This lovely book is full of facts, food and family! It contains so much information about tapping trees, making syrup, using syrup and other maple products and their health benefits. It is also the story of a family and hard work and simple joys. This book will be enjoyed by anyone who is interested in becoming a little bit more self-sufficient - or anyone who wants some absolutely delicious maple-infused recipes. I am a seasoned baker, and I will attest that "The Best-Ever Maple Scones" recipe, really is the BEST EVER!

This is a great resource!
I bought this for my husband who just recently tried his hand at making maple syrup. This book is full of tips and just good information in general for a novice. There are also some suggestions and recipes for other types of things to try. For example, my husband just made a small batch of lilac syrup from our blooming lilac bushes, following the recipe in this book. It was a surprising delicious and aromatic substitute for maple syrup! My husband didn't get this book until after he finished making his maple syrup this year, but he is already planning out how he plans on changing his operation next year based on good advice from this book. This is a great resource!

Tons of info and "How To's"
FAST delivery!!!! Lots of how to pictures (I'm a visual learner), explanations and tisp, plus great looking recipes for using this wonderful amber stuff. Can hardly wait for weather to wram up some so I can put the info in this book to the test. Wish me luck here in northern Utah with my 3 medium Sugar Maple and one very large siver maple tree. May even tap my son's large Box Elder (which is a maple family) and next year (if all goes well this year) I want to tap his 3 black walnut trees.
