IT’S JUST LIKE WATCHING DEXTER
If you liked the show “Dexter”, you’ll love this book. Dexter has his dark passenger along for the ride. This is about the beginning of Dexter. I could actually hear his voice and that of his sister, Deb. It was an exciting read.

Dark Fun
Dark humor throughout breaks the tension of the thorough, often gross, descriptions, making me wonder if laughing is appropriate; it is. The solid first-person narrative links the protagonist so tightly to his thoughts, feelings, and sarcastic witticisms, immersing the reader in the full experience.Refreshing read of an extreme antihero. The vivid descriptions living inside the mind of a serial killer, one expertly masquerading as an everyday human, leads you to sometimes question the public behavior of the people around you. Not in an “everybody’s a secret killer” way (I hope) but in a “we are not always what we portray” way. The book reminds you that you must dig beneath the surface to find the truth of a person, even when it’s the kind of thing you may not want to know.Great lines:* “Still, it’s always nice to be around somebody who thinks I am wonderful. It confirms my low opinion of people.”* “I could think of no guidelines on what we were wearing this season to a party forced on you to celebrate an unwanted engagement that might turn into a violent confrontation with a vengeful maniac.”* “I decided that I didn’t really want to know the answer that badly. The very thought was almost enough to make me feel real emotion, and not the kind that one is grateful for.”

I enjoyed this book, it was hard to put down. I wish their was a real Dexter to bring justice to people our laws don’t punish.

Love where they're going with the children
Book Info: Genre: Thriller/Police ProceduralReading Level: AdultRecommended for: twisted peopleTrigger Warnings: murder, torture, vivisectionMy Thoughts: This book opens with a scene that plays on our expectations of Dexter... and then turns them on their ear. I just love that! This book is filled with scenes like that, scenes that turn our expectations against us and make us look at things from a slightly different perspective.Watching Dexter's complete confusion over how to deal with Rita is always hilarious. However, I always wondered why no one ever mentioned that the ring was actually Kyle's and that Dexter would need to somehow retrieve it for him. That wasn't the only comment in the book that didn't really make sense. There is a scene toward the end where Dexter thinks to himself about the three remaining potential victims being unaware, and includes Acosta among them, although Acosta not only was aware but had fled. I was a bit surprised something like that would make it through the final editing process. However, these are very minor things, and with all the busyness, I'm sure a lot of people would not even noticed these minor, questionable situations.I remember back when I first read this book I was so excited to see where the series was going with the children. I still find this a really interesting idea, and was disappointed when the TV series did not include this. I suppose involving the children was just too much and not nearly "sexy" enough, but to me I much prefer the direction the story is going in the books over what I saw in the first four seasons of the TV show.If you have a really dark and twisted sense of humor, and like reading about rather dark and twisted vigilantes, then you definitely need to spend some time with Dexter Morgan.Series Information: Dexter Morgan seriesBook 1: Darkly Dreaming Dexter, review linked hereBook 2: Dearly Devoted DexterBook 3: Dexter in the DarkBook 4: Dexter by DesignBook 5: Dexter is DeliciousBook 6: Double DexterBook 7: Dexter's Final CutDisclosure: I purchased this book for myself. All opinions are my own.Synopsis: Dexter Morgan has been under considerable pressure. It's just not easy being an ethical serial killer--especially while trying to avoid the unshakable suspicions of the dangerous Sergeant Doakes (who believes Dexter is a homicidal maniac... which, of course, he is). In an attempt to throw Doakes off his trail, Dexter has had to slip deep into his foolproof disguise. While not working as a blood-spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department, he now spends nearly all his time with his cheerful girlfriend, Rita, and her two children, sipping light beer and slowly becoming the world's first serial couch potato. But how long can Dexter play Kick the Can instead of Slice the Slasher? How long before his Dark Passenger forces him to drop the charade and let his inner monster run free?In trying times, opportunity knocks. A particularly nasty psychopath is cutting a trail through Miami--a man whose twisted technique leaves even Dexter speechless. As Dexter's dark appetite is revived, his sister, Deborah (a newly minted, tough-as-nails Miami detective), is drawn headlong into the case. It quickly becomes clear that it will take a monster to catch a monster--but it isn't until his archnemesis is abducted that Dex can finally throw himself into the search for a new plaything. Unless, of course, his plaything finds him first...

Dexter is back...
My favourite serial killer is back once again. By day he is continuing to work for the Miami Police department as a blood splatter analyst and of course by night, he is slashing his way through the dregs of the Miami society. There are just a few problems in Dexter's happily ordered life of work and murder. Sargent Doakes is on to him and someone may or may not want to kill him! Whatever is Dexter to do?As Doakes' constant presence begins to put a damper on Dexter's happy slashing fun, Dexter decides to sharpen his disguise. While spending his evenings on Rita's couch drinking beer, he notices some familiar behaviour in her children. Could they be more like him than anyone suspects? Dexter quickly finds himself as a mentor to Cody and Astor as he tries to steer them on the right path.Of course it's not all playing daddy and shaping the monsters of the future for Dexter. His sister has once again become involved in a gruesome case. It quickly becomes clear that Dexter's archnemisis Doakes has some connection to the case and the two must reluctantly work together to solve it. Dexter may just be able to kill two birds with one stone.Once again, this book is quite funny and had me laughing out loud. Jeff Lindsey continues to develop Dexter's character and with each book a little more of himself is revealed.

Un villano interesante
Sabia que hay bastantes diferencias entre la serie y el libro, una lastima que no hayan usado a Dr. Danco como villano principal en algunas de las temporadas. Como el primero, buen libro, bien manejado el suspenso.

Fantastico Dexter

Well written and engaging.
I read these books before the TV series came out and still go back to them as they well written and very engaging, and if you enjoyed the TV show, these provide a level of depth and detail into the character than you could achieve from watching the TV show. This book has the same quality of writing present in the first book.
