Go up a size - trust me.
XL is nowhere near an XL, it’s a large all day. I’ve worn XL for two decades across dozens of mfr’s. This is exceedingly small for an XL. I’m extremely athletic not someone with a beer belly complaining or doesn’t fit right. Now I’m stuck before my a large birthday celebration without the shirt I planned to wear. Bummer.
