Covenant Economics: A Biblical Vision of Justice for All Paperback – June 29, 2009

The title is a bit misleading, because the book is essentially a cultural/contextual background intro to the Old an New Testaments - giving special emphasis on the economic context. It is one of those rare gems of a first-rate scholar distilling some of the best scholarship out there and bringing it to bear on opening our eyes to the meaning of the text.It really opened my eyes up to the meaning of the Gospels, Sermon on Mount, and origins of Christian faith. Has contemporary relevance in countless ways - but mainly how the corporate/profit-seeking world in collusion with the state/government works to economically oppress people. His discussion of the "temple-state" was brilliant, though he unfortunately didnt draw the connection to present day central banks.At any rate, highly recommend, highly underrated. Excellent scholarship and practical theological-ethics.
