Happy with the purchase. *by K***. on February 19, 2024* I have been wanting a nice backgammon set for a while. But the really nice sets can have a very high price tag. So after reviewing a number of options and sizes I decided to give this one a shot. The price for the size of board is good but I was a little worried the quality would be bad because of this. Yet the item arrived quickly (it was in stock so received it in 2 days, thanks prime shipping) and the item looks great. The box was not damaged and the board inside is wrapped in some thin foam for a little more protection. I looked over the item outside the box and didn’t see any glue issue as some have reported. On looking inside there wasn’t any excess glue there either so that part looked good on my board. The felt the playing board (the pips) are printed on looks like it was a silk screen printing. You can feel a slight thickness or stiffness where the color is. This in no way seems to impact the game and might soften as more playing time with more checkers sliding on it. The cups are felted inside with a raised lip to help with dice rolling. The dice look to be 1.4 cm long. The doubling cube is about the same size. I do wish the doubling cube was a little bigger but I could always upgrade it myself if I really want. I do think the pips near the center (the bar) seem a little close to the bar so the symmetry is a little off. (See photos) Overall I feel it is a great board and since I paid about $40 (in 2024 as inflation has caused the prices of everything to go up) I believe this was worth the cost or even exceeded it by a fair amount. It was as advertised and was reasonably priced. It definitely is much better than the game I was using. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great option for the casual Backgammon player. *by C***. on May 31, 2020* I recently got into playing Backgammon. I wanted a set to begin playing the game of Backgammon. I came across this 18" Large Backgammon set from Da Vinci. I did want a larger set to play on. So this one seemed to fit my needs. There have been some negative reviews about this set. So I was hoping that I wasn't going to receive a lemon. Turns out that I got a really well made Backgammon set. Didn't experience any of the negative things about the product that was said in other reviews. With one exception. There was a small bit of dried glue that was on the outside of the case itself. Since the outside is not the playing field. It wasn't much of an issue to be upset over. It is there and needs to be informed upon but as long as it isn't a huge glob or on the inside on the playing field. It's really a non issue to cry about. The points are tan & brown in color. They are not stitched on nor are they inlaid either. I would have to guess that they are silk screen printed upon the felt like fabric. The playing field is a vanilla white color. So it is a bright and vibrant color scheme all and all. The checkers are 1.25" X .25" in Brown & Ivory colors. It matches with the colors of the board and are not hard to miss out on the field. The dice are pipped brown and white dice. Measuring at just under .5" along with the doubling cube. There is plenty of room to upgrade to a bigger size of doubling cube and dice. The dice cups are lined with the same felt like material and have a lip inside to aid in dice tumbling. They are basic oval NASCAR shaped track dice cups. Just because you are sent Brown and Ivory checkers and dice. Doesn't mean that you are stuck with them. Gammon Village is an online Backgammon supplier that offers a wide range of accessories for Backgammon. They offer checkers in other colors options in the same 1.25" X .25" checker measurements. So change it up a little if you grow tired of the Brown and Ivory colors for your checkers. Same too goes for your dice and doubling cube. This set is just under tournament regulated USBGF size. It is an option to use at the club and or family and friends game night. A really good entry level casual play Backgammon set. I am sure over the years of use. Things will start to fall apart and break but at this cost. It doesn't hurt as bad as a $100+ set. If you have realistic expectations. You will not be disappointed in purchasing this set.
