Just the weather--nothing else. Simple, and it works.
I wanted a cheap weather radio like I've had for years. Mine finally broke and when I went to replace it they all were larger, had AC/DC, gave off sounds when there are alerts, and some were alarm clocks as well. That's great, but I only wanted the WEATHER! When I saw this, I grabbed it.For the money (under $7, which included shipping), it's fine. The speaker isn't as clear as my 20-year-old one which died, but I don't care. I can hear the weather just fine. It's also larger than I would have liked, but that doesn't downgrade the product itself. There is NO alert system on this. If you want that, perhaps you can get one for your phone which would be even better since the phone goes with you more than this will, most likely. However, if there is an alert, NOAA will tell you as you listen to it. It just won't turn on a siren.I'm actually ordering a second one to keep "just in case" because these simple cubes are so hard to find.

Battery cover needed duct tape to stay close
The battery cover kept popping open so I use a screw diver and a plastic pry bar for Iphone repair to adjust the springs and tension then put duct tape over it.Other than that it's a cheap little radio(Slightly lager than a rubbix cube) and it's great, I got it for my dad to keep in his truck so he can check the weather for his job because he doesn't have a smartphone with a weather app.

... does not stay closed so that there is a bad connection with the batteries and has to be held ...
I purchased for someone and have learned that the door to the batteries does not stay closed so that there is a bad connection with the batteries and has to be held closed with one's hand for the item to work properly. I will go in a few weeks and see for myself and see if I can fix it so the person I gave it to is happy with the item. All remains to be seen.

Junk
This is an older model, very 1980 like. If you want a radio like this get a Acu-Rite, bit more expensive, not much, but locks on to noaa and gives accurate alerts

Camping glassware
This radio works find. The weather re-port is aired from a station about 45-60 minutes away. This is irrelavant when a tonado is immediante, or a quick passing storm. So, next time I would buy one that pin-points the area that I live in.

Love my cube
Great product! Does what it says it will do; provide important information for your area. I received the product today. The box it came in looked used but the product inside is new. Reminds me of my original 1980's cube weather radio also from Radio Shack. Only difference is color. You can't go wrong for the price. Love it!

A good buy!
OK, the battery door is not the easiest to open - push down hard, slide back forcefully, thumb upwards in the "gap"...but the radio is small and handy and receives well in our area. Small enough to take when you travel thru "tornado alley" too. For the money its a good buy!
