Transformers: Age Of Extinction [Blu-ray]

Transformers don't transform any more - they just dissolve into pixels.
Michael Bay just keeps getting bigger and bigger spectacles and making them last longer and longer until you can't distinguish one scene from the next. What was fun about the original transformers was the fact that clever engineering design meant that a vehicle could transform into a robot. Hence the name. Michael Bay has effectively removed all the joy from transformers by removing the meaning of their name. As CGI tech advances Bay is able to keep breaking down the transformation between robot and vehicle to the point where one thing gets pixelated and then reformed into another. No engineering design. No transformation as it used to be. Just big, stupid machines punching and shooting each other endlessly. The violence is such that if these were people, not robots, the gore would warrant an 18 certificate. This is what Bay wants to make - a hyper violent, excessive CGI slow-mo gore fest action film. I feel like he keeps smashing up my childhood. First Transformers, then Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He'll get hold of Thundercats next and turn it into a grindhouse horror.

Hmmm.....??
Ok, my 11 year old son loved it - Transformer dinosaurs - awesome!I struggled tbh, particularly after watching T3 - DSOTM. Ok none of them are ever going to win an Oscar, but for sheer action and fun (transforming robot trucks and super cars - come on that's cool!) the first three are great. This however you could easily see that they wanted to reboot the series, but the story struggles. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work out. Mark Wahlberg is left thinking "Am I really doing this?" quite a lot. I struggled with Frazier as the main villain, but I did like Stanley Tucci. It just seemed a bit of a mishmash.I hope 5 has a better story.

A Change for the Worse
I really enjoyed the first few movies for what they were - fairly brainless switch your-mind-off bonanzas of lots of special effects with big robots fighting and destroying even bigger set pieces in the process. They were also good fun films with plenty of funny moments thrown in (absolutely loved the parents in those films!) and a likable cast who you could invest in a little - enough for you to enjoy more than just the CGI.This one just stick with the robots, makes everything bigger, everything brighter and everything last longer. But everything seems lost in this one and I really didn't enjoy the new cast at all and it just felt like a drag interspersed with occasionally semi-decent battle scenes. The parts that irked a little in the first movies, such as terrible dialogue and silly plot holes, irk a LOT in this offering and it feels like Transformers has lost its sparkle a bit. I'm hoping they reboot again as could happily take or leave any future films that follow this same set-up.

Way too long, dull and only worth buying if you can get a bargin
This starts quite well - feeds in the back story from the last 3 movies. Nice idea with the inventor finding Optimus Prime and then accidentally fixing him, but it then steadily goes down hill after that. For starters its ridiculously too long - we have not just one or two "head to heads" with Optimus and the chief baddy but three/four. By the end you give up caring because you know that Optimus will win anyway. The product placement is so obvious to beggar belief and actually detracts from the movie. The dinobots play a minor part right at the end of the movie and why they are their isn't properly explained.I think this franchise has run its course - time to look else where

My children chose towatch this and even they didn't enjoy it - they ...
Far too long. It feels as though there was no prepared story for this film leaving the director to take the story wherever he wanted. My children chose to watch this and even they didn't enjoy it - they usually love action and scifi movies (they enjoyed the earlier transformer movies) but not this time. Wahlberg, Tucci and Grammer all did the best the could (especially Tucci) but were all let down by the abysmal story line and awful script. The rest of the cast made little impact on the story, especially Reynor and Peltz.Save your money for something else.

This movie was awful
The first movie was great and the next two were okay. This movie however was awful. I considered pressing the stop button on my DVD player many times through the film but struggled on until the end. There is so many things wrong with this film I can't be bothered writing them down. I was surprised with the 12 rating considering the swearing in the film. A family film this is not and I'm surprised that Speilberg was involved in this drivel.

Possibly the worst Transformers product in the history of man and machine
The film is a waste of time. actors such as TJ Miller and Kelsey Grammer feel like afterthoughs in a film which is mainly human centric. The effects are good but the dialogue and storyline is crap. The only saving grace(s), if any, are that Frank Welker returns as galvatron and the ending of the film sets up for an intruiging future. That being said, Michael Bay is bound to screw it up and for any transformers fans or those who want to see a transformers product, I would recommend watching transformer prime.
