Too short!
Great story line but I turned the page after 3/4 of book and it was over. Was looking forward to their relationship developing, little romance, some interaction with his parents. Story just stopped.

Sweet Story
Veterans on a ranch, healing together. A girl with no home or job. An ultimatum to marry or lose the ranch. All of these things mention a marriage of convenience. There are so many things to like in this story. The main couple see their relationship as a partnership. The girl can't cook and that's okay. Those who have various handicaps are not seen as having any less value. A pastor who cares so much about those he serves that he will push them in ways that are uncomfortable to them but ultimately for their good. The story was fun, light, happy. I struggled however seeing the main couple fall in kove but not understanding why they were in love. I saw sympathy and understanding. I saw two people who are perfectly capable of healing and moving beyond their pasts. I also saw a lot of hurt happened in the story, and instead of exploring forgiveness, they just overlooked it. Maybe the book was too short to go into depth, but I still think it should have been explored a bit more than it was. The story was told from alternate perspectives, which made it very easy to follow. But rather than focusing solely on the appearance of the other person or the personal hurts, it would have helped the story to show the individuals' thinking and how they moved past previous hurts and opened up their hearts to each other.

A fantastic start to this series
What a fantastic start to the Brides of Purple Heart Ranch series. This first book centers around Dylan and Maggie. Dylan comes home from Afghanistan missing a leg. Maggie is a vet tech, but loses her job after taking a dog home, that she was supposed to put down. Dylan is waiting for the sale to go through on the ranch, but gets some bad news. Can a marriage of convenience be the answer to their problems? We also get to meet the other men living at the ranch and learn what they’re dealing with. I loved the start of this series and I can’t wait to read book two.

Great start to a new series.
I loved this story. So heart-warming and romantic. This story is about a lonely young lady, Maggie who was orphaned at an early age, and now saves animals who are handicapped. And Dylan is a wounded veteran, who starts a rehab ranch, along with a few of his fellow survivors of war.. All have different degrees of wounds that some you can see, and others not so much. In order to keep from being evicted off the land, they must find wives. Maggie lost her job, after saving Spin, a dog that just lost his hide legs and was destined to be put down. But she just couldn't do it. When her boss finds out she's fired. And then when her landlord finds out she's got 5 dogs in the apartment, she's immediately evicted, and now homeless with no place to go. She goes to the church and talks to the preacher who sets up a deal with Dylan that will benefit them all. Or will it?This story touched my heart deeply, for both parties involved. But what was set up as a marriage of convenience turns into a beautiful HEA.

Finding a place to call home.
A totally different read for me. But the message delivered within was heartfelt and inspirational. When Dylan returns from Afghanistan wounded and his career over his only thought is family. But when his family and his fiancée turn their backs on him he’s left broken mentally.Escaping he decides to settle on a ranch, one where wounded service men can find a place to belong, and one where they can recover. But when it’s threatened and the only way to fix it is marriage it’ll take a miracle to find a woman who’d settle down here.Maggie has always been on the outside looking in. Abandoned and brought up in foster care she’s never known love. All she has is her dogs. Dogs that no one else has wanted. The wounded, the elderly the lost causes.A chance to start anew, a place for all of them is like a dream come true. Meeting her handsome intended is a bonus.A drama free read. It’s sweet and moving. Slow build, engaging characters and a contemporary read. Strictly vanilla in theme but it didn’t detract from the story.

Sweet: Dylan and Maggie
A beautiful novel about a lonely young lady and a wounded veteran. Dylan is a wounded veteran, that helps wounded veterans, when he meets, (vet technician) Maggie Shaw, he is smitten. Maggie is a lovely young woman that loves animals and always wants to help people and animals. With the help of Dr. Patel ( who is also the Pastor of a local Church), life on The Purple Heart Ranch gets interesting. A very heartwarming novel that will keep the reader's attention and interest from start to finish.

I enjoyed this book so much! It is a clean love story with no expletive sex in it! It is a book that you wouldn't mind your child reading. This book shows that there is always love and exception out there waiting for you! I want to thank the author for writing these books, it should remind us of all the soldiers that sacrificed for us, I can't wait to read the rest of (The Brides of Purple Hearts)

Super short, sappy & cute, very little substance
This book is nowhere near 200 pages. It took me maybe an hour to read it. Story moves VERY fast.Hero is a wounded veteran, who thinks he will never be enough man for any woman. He runs a ranch for Wounded Warriors.Maggie is a vet tech who loses her job because of adopting dogs who are supposed to be euthanized. She also is evicted for having too many dogs in her apartment. This eviction happens pretty much overnight. She is given a place to stay at the ranch, along with her disabled dogs who fit right in with the Wounded Veterans.Oh oh, the ranch is only zoned for families. Someone must be married. Guess what happens. Cute, not a full length book, very sappy. Cotton candy for brains.

Not for my taste, the characters needing building up
Dylan is a war veteran trying to set up a ranch for men like himself to recover from their traumas. He is told that as part of completing the purchase he has to marry or move out because there is a clause in the deeds saying the ranch has to be owned by a married person. Maggie has just been thrown out of her job because she keeps saving the dogs instead of putting them to sleep and she also gets evicted from her apartment. A friend of Dylans can see the solution and they agree to marry. The story is just a bit too sugar sweet for me, no sooner do they meet but they want each other.

Oh wow
This was such a beautiful story, about hope, belonging and healing. I loved Maggie and Dylan, they both needed to learn to trust and love one another. Dr or I mean Pastor Patel is a sneaky one, finding perfect matches for all the wounded hearts on the ranch. It's a shame the story ended at 77%. I loved it so much, I wanted it to continue.Off to download book 2, I'd definitely recommend this series.

I enjoyed the book so much I bought the rest of the series
I really enjoyed the writing style and story line that was plausible and conversations between the characters that were humorous, serious, and made for a good story. I was hooked at the end of book one and ended up devouring the others in the series. Congratulations on a great bunch of veterans and the women they fall for, their values and endurance.

Too sweet for me
Story was okay. I like the idea of helping wounded vets but too much, too soon. It all came to a conclusion too quickly. Not a fan of God reference either. Just not my kind of book.
