Not So Good for AM - Better for FM & Weather
KA123 - Unusual Package of Features -* Digital Tuning, but NO PRESETS. Inconvenient/slow to change stations - have to keep pressing the 'Tune' button dozens of times to eventually sweep the frequency band - can take a while* Good reception for FM & Weather bands - crisp audio quality* The unit we received has background noise/hiss for entire AM band, even with strong stations - bothersome* Digital volume adjustment from '1' to '16' ; however, speaker starts buzzing at level '12', which isn't very loud* Eats batteries like no tomorrow* Great wrist-strap* Built-in LED flashlight surprisingly bright* No jack for earphone* Has mini-USB connector for Ni-MH rechargeable batteriesWeight: 4.0 ounces (with batteries)Dimensions: 5.6 x 2.2 x 1.2 inchesAntenna: extends to 8.0 inches

It's OK, despite poor audio
Works as expected. Reception of am/fm/wb stations is 'ok'. Audio not so great, but it's ok for listening to weather radio, occasional use for talk radio. I'm not sure you'd enjoy listening to music on this? The construction is a bit flimsy, but not out of line for this price. I was looking for a 'travel' radio that would hold up with rough handling and use. I'm not sure this is it? It will work fine sitting in a stationary location for use to monitor weather broadcasts.

Good inexpensive versatile compact 3 Band radio with built in flashlight and weather alert feature
This is a very inexpensive hand held radio which is small and very light weight. Approximate Dimensions: 3-3/4 in.x 2-3/4 in x 1-1/4 in. It is easy to set up and does provide decent reception in all 3 bands. I bought it primarily for its weather alert feature while boating. The antenna extends which helps reception. Reception was excellent and solid. This radio has a built in flashlight feature and a soft blue backlit LCD display that times out after approximately 1 minute. Very visible display in the dark. It also always displays the current time which consumes minimal battery power when the unit is shut off. If you have an available USB port/charger (5-5.2vdc according to the manual) and install rechargeable batteries you can plug this unit in using its mini USB port to recharge/maintain the battery charge. (Batteries and mini USB to USB adapter cable not included). Sound quality is crisp and clear although I primarily listen to talk radio. As far as music, it sounds like every other transistor hand held radio I have owned. This would be a great addition to any hiking or camping trip or for use in a survival kit.

Lousy reception
I live in the mountains of north GA and as such radio reception is not great. My car radio does a decent job of receiving stations from the Atlanta area but not the Kaito KA123.I receive one of the four weather stations and a few FM stations. None of which are clear enough to enjoy listening to.For city dwellers or around 30-50 mile proximity to stations it MIGHT be a nice unit. It's clock runs fast. It's compact and looks cool but...

Nice little radio packs a nice punch
I was leery given the reasonable price.Pros:Built in clock with light.Scan option for all stations.Bright flashlight for sizeRechargeable ( if you install rechargeable batteries )Easy to read station.Good reception even for far away stations impressive.Extendible antenna when needed.Small near pocket size.Good sound.Cons:Rubber for USB charge not sturdy and falls off easy making waterproofing harder. Is rechargeable USB, I expect no batteries but also requires purchase on a usb cord.Vague instructions, but radio was easy to figure out.Lot small then I thought.Overall good radio, nice sound and well built minus the concerns I mentioned.I like the flashlight and WX make this a great radio to have anywhere. The Am/Fm is good but probably won't be used.I would say anyone looking for a inexpensive radio with weather for car backpack etc, this is agreat little radio. I saw no issues with sound like some have said as it is a 2 1/2 speakernot a 12" stereo :-)

Kaito USA Pocket Digital AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio - NO EARPHONE JACK!!
This little radio is so-so. It's a pocket radio so it is small enough to put in your shirt pocket as advertised. The problem that I have with it is MAJOR. It has NO earphone jack!! Granted, it never advertised that it did- but how many portable-pocket radios have YOU had that didn't have an earphone jack??? The tiny speaker quality sucks to say the least. I admit - I didn't read every single review but the one's I read didn't mention it. Had I known it had no earphone jack, I wouldn't have purchased it for sure.

Just ok
I bought this as a bug out bag radio; in that role its fine but there are flaws. One I opened mine the antenna wouldnot stay in, no head phone jack, sound is well... meh because of no base even talk radio sounds poor. It is nice and compact with a bright light. Its not for casual listening in my opinion get a sony pocke radio for that.

Small, handy, works, sound is tinny
Received the product and was smaller than the picture shows. Had a problem where the distal segment of the antenna was loose and wanted to pull out. Radio was fine, weather band works and light function is acceptable. Sound is really tinny and not something you would listen too as you are working trying to enjoy your favorite station.

good reception so far
Works well, good reception so far. Easy to use. Sound is good but keep in mind that the speaker is quite small but so is the radio. No headphone jack though. Looks better on the picture than in your hands but still worth the price - used as a portable radio to listen to the news or the weather bands or as an emergency radio, keeping quality extra batteries on hand.

Four Stars
Quite small, but works well for the size. Speaker is very small so the sound quality is just adequate.
