This is an extraordinary good speaker volume is due right range not too low not too high. Comfortable clarity is excellent. I use it on a Whistler scanner for 1010. I love it. In fact I would always say to you good things come and small packages. this speaker is not big but it does the trick. It is very good. No complaints. Well recommended

Works well with my cobra 19mini I flush-mounted. I zip tied it to a dash support in the footwell. I hear it decent enough down the road but may relocate it to hear it better. My Cobra manual says to use a 8 ohms speaker. Not sure if there’s others or if it would matter but I would double check that.

Probably my fault for not understanding the dimensions. The Whole Thing is 3" wide, not the driver. So it's a very compact little guy. Sounds just fine and the price is right. EDIT: Well, the speaker borked out the first day I used it on the road. It first developed a low-volume condition, where you could barely hear anything with the volume all the way up. Then, no sound at all. I suspect a bad solder joint inside there. I'll probably just pick up a used Kenwood or Motorola speaker on fleabay, recommend you do as well. This one isn't worth the trouble. A short or fault inside a speaker could easily damage a radio, and in a device as simple as a speaker there's really no excuse for such poor quality control.

This is mainly for alerting with my Uniden R3 radar detector as the internal speaker is weak. Maybe it's the output with the unit but I need to have it on volume 6 (Max) with a high pitched tone to hear it halfway decent. If I have my music on in the WRX, it's very easy to miss if it gives me an alert. One thing I also noticed is the mono jack is every so slightly loose compared to all the 3.5mm male plugs I've had in the past. So, depending on the output for the 3.5mm, it may or may not be loud enough. I'll keep it and use it for something else but I need to go back to the wired 12V powered 25W+ speaker for my setup. Otherwise, the steel bracket and swiveling function is nice for angled placement.

It is an inexpensive 'off brand' speaker but I used it on my CB for a recent 1500 mile trip and found it to be very intelligible. ...and I am a professional sound engineer. There is some diminished high frequency response (which is probably part of the static noise cancelling feature), but the speaker was still quite intelligible for speech. I have not opened up the unit to see if there is, in fact, any internal component that technically qualify as 'noise cancelling;' there is no power supply voltage to activate any internal electronics circuit. The unit may incorporate some passive electronic components to reduce the high frequency portion of static noise or perhaps the speaker component itself simply lacks high frequency response. But regardless, do you want to hear CB quality broadcast conversations or do you intend on flying it to the moon?

Purchased a no-name speaker off this site which no matter what I tried, I could not get it to sound good. The Astatic speaker is night and day difference. Good loud sound with adequate low end. Now my VHF/UHF radio sounds the way it should.
