Kyoto 55 Gallon Sand-Stone-Look Rain Barrel UV Resistant Container with Drainage

I've since purchased a second one of these rain barrels I loved the first one so much. It's a pretty simple thing a rain barrel. This particular one truly is the best design among the dozens I've seen. In fact, it's beautiful. It arrives ready to go. No assembly required. I do have suggestions on improvements, however. A larger faucet with a lever actuated valve would be better. It takes forever to fill a two gallon watering can. Why does every manufacturer use the same dinky faucet? Next, the perforated lid. The holes are too large. Mosquitoes can easily set up housekeeping. Solution: Cut and fasten a piece of round plastic window screen material to the top of the lid.

Product is not the same color or texture as shown online. I thought it would be somewhat decorative but it’s plain brown molded plastic.Also, the overflow spout is at the back of the barrel which will be next to the building and there’s no mechanism to attach a hose to desert water.Overall product is overpriced for quality of item.

I like the barrel and the design but instead of the brass faucet described it had a cheap, defective faucet that would only dribble. I ordered a replacement brass faucet from Amazon made for rain barrels and I was very lucky to be able to unscrew the defective faucet and screw in the new one on the original threads without taking the whole assembly apart. Left a bad taste in my mouth to pay this much for a rain barrel then not be able to use it until I ordered a replacement part. While the product seems to be very solid and well designed, my phone calls to them have been met with a "we're interested in your input and want to satisfy you, but we're busy answering other phone calls from other customers. Please wait until we can get to your call" ( not the actual recorded message, but you get the idea ). Well, after 10 ( that's right 10 minutes on hold ), I had to hang up. " NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ???????"

I purchased this rain barrel because I liked the shape. The plastic is very heavy-duty and with the built in feet makes the whole thing sturdy.

Fortunately another user came up with a solution for the overflow pipe. Because there is no way to attach a hose to it, something else is required. Purchase a washing machine hose about six foot long to the overflow pipe , a brass slide on connector to this for connecting to a hose if needed. Very sturdy and well made product with this exception.

We have no spigot on one side of our house… So I installed this rain barrel with a copper rain chain feeding into it. It has a overflow spout at the top which I pointed away from the outside of the house… And a spigot down low which I use to water the potted plants on that side of the house. It has a sturdy screen top.It is unobtrusive, sturdy, and serves its purpose very well.

The only thing wrong with this cool rain barrel is the spigot on it. Worthless. Takes forever. I just hooked a ball valve to a short price of hose, used the drain line. Works better. I used a mosquito screen too, prob not necessary.
