You need a power applicator but it does the job
This is a medium cut cleaner and to get the best out of it, one definitely needs a power applicator and the necessary time to work the product. This product needs to be worked in the shade as one shouldn't even think about working this stuff when the auto surface is hot. This product works by removing a layer of paint or if polishing glass, a layer of glass but with effort and patience, this product will quite literally make what ever is being worked on, glass smooth. And yes, it's spec'd to be used on clear coat but personally, I'd be careful how much force I applied to the buffer as once the clear coat is gone, it's gone.If one has a lot of oxidation and grim, they should consider stepping up to a more aggressive cleaner and pick-up a bottle of Meguiar's Ultra Cut Compound; #105 which will take out of the paint, up to 1200 grit sandpaper marks. If using this product, one can figure going over a really bad surface (rough sounding to the hands and the ears), two, three or four times. This is a product for a surface in reasonably decent shape.I use a Ryobi six inch orbital buffer with terry cloth applicator bonnet attached. One needs to keep up to five or more cleaning bonnets close at hand as once gummed up, the bonnet should be changed out for a clean one or you'll scratch the surface you're trying to smooth out. Buy washable bonnets. Over and over and over again, one can rinse out and reuse better quality bonnets. Have plenty of soft, clean, terrycloth hand towels and a microfiber cloth or two, close at hand, for final wipe down.If the individual is in a hurry, I cannot recommend using this product. Plan on hours of working the finish. This is a fine product but it takes time to get where you're wanting to go; a mirror smooth finish and yes, it will get you there. This is not a five minute product. This is a product where the user works two, four or eight square feet at a time and then moves to the next section of the vehicle. If the sun moves on to the vehicle, stop and move the vehicle into the shade as you can not use this product on a hot surface.....PERIOD.If one is just wanting to clean up the surface of their vehicle, the surface of which is in decent shape, this product will get the user there fast and the user won't have to worry about ruining the finish of their vehicle. I cannot stress enough that when using this product to clean up the surface of the paint, make sure to have enough time to do a good job as this isn't a "hack" type of product (splash it on, let it dry and then wipe it off) but instead is a product for the type of person who cares how the final shine of the vehicle looks to others and is willing to take the time to make it happen. If you're trying to clean up a particularly bad paint job with this product, figure working on the vehicle over a couple of days. The top half on the first day and the bottom half on the second and maybe a third day to detail and polish. The point, don't let the vehicle go to poop and you'll be fine but if you're using this product, it's too late, you waited too long and need to plan ahead so as to have enough time to repair the weathering which has taken place over the last many years of neglect. But yes, this product will restore a badly oxidized surface but doing so does take time. This product should be expected to be followed up by Meguiar's 205. The top panels of the hood and fender should be done with 205 before applying either wax or sealant. I like the clean and polish the car three times a year and use sealant. Sealant lasts longer as one gives up the extra shine of wax for the longer lasting shine of sealant. It's a tradeoff; arguably, shine or longevity. Why the deduction of a star? Because it is so slow to work (much effort), and if the paint is in particularly bad shape, there's the need to buy a more aggressive product like Meguiar's Ultra Cut Compound. but a word to the wise, it can only be purchased in one quart containers or larger. This is an excellent product which I feel comfortable recommending that with effort, does what one wants; cleans up aged/oxidized paint and does so at a reasonable price.Hope the above helps.

This is THE Stuff
A buddy that owned a body shop turned me onto #2 many years ago. It is simply the best for removing small insults y to your paint or as a pre-cleaner before you do a wax. Remove light scratches and contaminations and I use it also to do a quick buff on headlight/taillight plastic. If your lights are really yellowed it does wonders there too. And the great part is that it won't contaminate your paint is silicon (bad stuff if need a point touchup or damage fixed). Highly recommended.

Arrived quick! As far as longevity I can’t say as I just used it, but it was easy to apply and I had no issues.

Unexpected results
I'm a novice. Should point that out.Bought this as recommended by touch up paint provider.Used as directed and removed some of clear coat and paint. It was like using liquid sandpaper on surface of car. Very disappointed. Need to repaint entire fender.Assuming it's something I've done wrong though I've followed directions by paint provider and on this bottle.

Good product as long as expectations are reasonable
Works great for removing 800 grit and finer scratches although 800-1000 will likely take a few passes. I found it works best if surface is wet sanded to 1200 then cut down with this product.
