Sophisticated taste...
I'm overwhelmed with new books and sources of information right now so cannot give a really detailed review, but Suzanne Somers is a trailblazer. If you know her as the ditzy blond in the old tv series Three's Company, followed by her stint as a purveyor of the Thigh Master you might be surprised at that. But when you follow her career further and realize she has been at the forefront, beyond an early adapter, of so much cutting edge wellness stuff you have to begin to look to her, as I have, as a serious source of information and honest advice. When you learn, as I did recently, that she handled her post-cancer reconstruction with some kind of stem cell procedure that regrew her breast tissue you really have to admire her willingness to trust her own instincts and research in leading the way. But this is a cookbook, and one I initially purchased because it is the source of her Summer Tomato Soup recipe - a vegetarian, highly sophisticated, anyone can do in 15 minutes, barely cooked hot soup with a fresh basil pistou(pesto)that is fancy enough to use for entertainment but also something you can make again and again, which requires no fancy prep (any kind of sloppy chopping will do) and will carry you through a chunk of the week. She also pairs this recipe with a parmesan cracker which is made by just melting circles of grated parmesan or romano (you can't use the cheap supermarket cheese powder here!) in circles on foil in the oven. You could take that out of the oven, roll it around a pencil into a "cheese finger", put it on top of the pesto you top the soup off with (a two minute food processor task) and deserve the high praise you receive! It hits on all points - rich in the right super nutrients, no bad stuff, high flavor, sophisticated conception, speed and ease of prep, and so I look forward to that kind of thinking throughout the book. This cookbook pairswith her latest book, Sexy Forever, and the diet/health website that she participates in as well. It may not be the most attractive title but she'strying to make the point that you can stay vital and feel young for longer than you may think. Just take a look at her. That didn't happen by accident! She's 62, 63? Anyway, I recommend anything she puts her name on, and that is rare praise from me.

Sexy Forever...Thanks Suzanne
Package was received promptly and very nicely wrapped. The book is a compilation of all the wonderful recipes that Suzanne has shared with us over the years. Her way of cooking and using fresh and organic ingredients is so beneficial to us all. Rest in peace, Suzanne.

There it is!
I consider myself as competent a chef as Ms. Somers, but I'm not a recipe user.I make an exception with this book, because it helps to lose all the weight I want to while eating (her) fantastic food. Before Suzanne Somers, I never thought of making zuchini noodles or cauliflower mashed potatoes or egg crepe linguini. This book makes it possible to easily find her recipes, and it is also possible to find corollary recipes, which might have been only in different books. About 400 recipes have been compiled from all her books and these are among the best. The only improvement I can think of is making the pages out of hard plastic, to keep the pages clean in the kitchen !

favorable review with a but
The food has been fabulous so far. Most of it even easy to make despite its exotic title... like the Moroccan Chicken recipe. I kid people that dinner took a month to make. That's because she gives instructions for making your own preserved lemon rinds which are used in the Moroccan Chicken recipe. Don't let that scare you. The rinds were extremely easy to do. 3 ingredients , one of them being water and then let it set for 30 days. Once that's done on you go with the chicken and its a cinch too.Pages are sturdy. Cover durable despite being a paperback. You can wipe it of with slightly damp rag in other words should anything you're preparing happen to land on the cover. So what's my but? Its got a few photos. And of the few its got a few are of some of the recipes. Most of the few photos are of Suzanne. Suzanne in a strawberry patch. Suzanne feeding chickens. Suzanne picking fruit from a tree. Suzanne having breakfast in bed with hubby. Suzanne visiting the Malibu Olive Company. 3 photos of Suzanne hanging out with some local fisherman and live crabs. Suzanne enjoying a drink and bonding with a horse and harvesting zucchini from a garden and...so on.....It's a recipe bible. Not a Suzanne Somers bible. I don't mind photos of Suzanne. But, I really think a recipe bible should have included more pictures of the recipes than the author or at least equal shots of both. I love to see pictures of what I'm going to make. But its not necessary. But since this book did have some photos included, I'm just saying more of the food would have been better.

Worth it
This is quite a diversion from my normal eating but well worth it. I have lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks without even trying. Although the notion of not eating carbs with meat (baked potato) takes a little getting used to.
