Good Schiit!
this is an excellent dac for the price. i needed a dac to use with new studio monitors i purchased, and i didnt want to break the bank. this little schiit was the perfect choice. it's a nice clean sounding dad, with good utility. i was going to buy the newer modi 3, but two things kept me from doing it. first, i hate mini usb connnections, and the modi 3 uses them now instead of usb b. i move my stuff a lot, and i have broken quite a few mini usb cables (never the thing being plugged into, thankfully!). but it's a more fragile plug type, and for my use, i wanted the more durable b type plugs. also, i like the wall wart power supply more. i've heard people say it hums and adds audible distortion. i cant say i've heard it myself, and i'm using this for monitors for casual listening, so if there's a touch of low level distortion, so be it, i wont hear it anyways. i added a schiit sys as well for volume control, and am quite happy with my new office speaker system!

unfortunately in mine developed a problem shortly after using it. I like schiit audio products but unfortunately I must have got a bad one.

DO NOT BUY, no quality control
Item was dead on arrival, so that means no quality control testing, absolutely ridiculous, wanted to like this company, but in will no longer be purchasing any of their products.

Made in the USA doesn't mean what it used to mean
After using the Schiit Modi 2 Uber for almost 30 days, the unit repeatedly exhibited erratic behavior. The unit would autonomously switch the input while I was listening to music. One moment, the music would be playing and sounding very good. The next, there would be silence as the DAC switched inputs and I had to physically go over to the DAC and cycle through the inputs to get back to the only one in use. Ridiculous. It is very sad that they don't offer the Modi 3 in black, as I'd be willing to try that but Schiit gear is all silver now and none of that matches my audio gear. I would not recommend this DAC. While it is inexpensive, and it offers a 2-year warranty, what's the point of buying it if I have to pay to ship this to California for constant repairs? No thanks.

Great DAC at a clearance price
I bought this DAC for an old laptop that I refurbished and turned into a digital audio source for my living room listening station. The output from the laptops headphone jack was horrendously noisy, especially when run through my amp to high impedance headphones. I have the Schiit Modi 2 (non Uber) as part of my desktop audio setup on my office PC so I already knew that this DAC would deliver clean sound. It seems like Schiit was trying to get rid of these older models when they came out with the new Modi 3, however the Modi 2 Uber delivers just as clean sound quality and has a better power supply than the Modi 3. Prior to the Modi 3, the Modi 2 Uber was going for $150, so when I saw this item going for 69 dollars as a "closeout" I jumped at the opportunity to grab one. Hooked up to my computer via USB this device completely solves the issue of the noise audio and delivers beautiful clean sound. If you want to get the most out of it (i.e. higher bitrates) you need to install the windows drivers available on Schiit's website. Even at full price this is a great DAC for the money, however at this price it's an absolute steal.

Cheap and really good
This product is now cheaper because it's been out for a while. For the price it is great. Some audiophiles recommend the newer version (the Modi 3) because it does better on computer tests, but I challenge these people to objectively tell the difference in real life. For most people, this is a great device at a great price point. I use the Magni 2 Uber and Modi 2 Uber in a stack. It's great. 2 thumbs up from me. If you do buy this, I highly recommend connecting to it via optical out. That gives the best sound.

This is a steal at the price it is offered
found the Schiit Modi uber a while back while it was retail at $150, almost bought one but hard to justify as my onboard DAC does a fairly decent job connected to an Emotiva a-100. I was pleased as it is.couldn't pass this Schiit on Amazon at this price, not to mention I get it the next business day. Plugged it in and the difference was very apparent, especially at the low end. My little JBL speakers are decent, but can't handle bass the way I wanted it. With the Schiit, the bass is not heavier or over bearing, but much more PLEASING and pronounced. Overall clarity is improved, I wish it had a bit more gain on the electric guitar part, but I guess that's where the pre-amp comes in. I also hear the tonal quality gets better overtime, only received it today.Don't let this one slide if you're even mildly considering.

Extremely good value.
This combo, including the spark, beats the hell out of my old Fiio E10k.Sound quality is very much improved, the plethora of inputs/outputs are greatly appreciated, and it's made listening to music a real joy. No issues to report as of yet and will update if I run into any problems.
